Well - Shiny Happy People... holding hands....

yeah - the title makes you wanna sing REM -

Everyone's enthralled by this wonderful new woman who sprang from Cordy's womb. She needs a name and she has Angel Inc running around town takin' care of business...

Cordy's out cold (but apparently breathing) and Fred is a little jumpy.

This ep, however, did not make me wanna hold anyone's hand - unless they were gonna drag me the hell away from the television - this ep made me wanna gag --

What the hell was going on? Can anyone tell me? They were more stupid than usual. I know, I know - 'Jasmine' has them all 'enthralled' and 'star struck', but still, they're really just -- gah! this episode was so lame.

They're trying to make you think that this chic is the happy power come to help everyone - but that's just not the case - (and even if you didn't know what was gonna happen, you would KNOW that it was way too easy for them to do all this stuff and they were WAY too happy) --

Fred sees something - and she's 'questioning' - and apparently she's been chosen for "THE MISSION" - (hint hint to BtVS viewers) - and Fred tries to tell Wes (he lost the Marlboro Man status in this ep for acting like an ass) but he just runs off to tell everyone else - oops - Fred's in trouble --

Fred gets out and finds that 'Jasmine' is going on tv and something's not quite right once Jasmine starts talking...

Oh - and WHAT was with the not-so-subtle slashy Gunn/Wes undertones? "You have the same love. That should bring you together, not force you apart." - gag me! ugh! lame! (no, not the pairing, if you like those two together, go for it! I'm 'ugh'-ing the use of the lines that were so *not* innocent! Ack! don't DO that!)

Angel - 'Oh, if I get to happy.... badness ensues...'
Jasmine - 'Don't worry. We will exterminate all evil! Even that in you!' -
Angel - 'Coolness!' *big smile* (total paraphrase)

Um - stupid!Angel - it doesn't work that way! You can't get rid of the demon part unless you become HUMAN - which, this chic is SO not gonna do for you --- moron!Angel - ack!

If the point of this episode was to prove how stupid Angel Inc is - good show - if there was some other point - I missed it and this episode sucked.

Only thing for Fred to do? Go to Sunnydale and tell Spike that Angel's acting like an ass - he's the only one that would believe her anyway - and he'd love a chance to kick Angel's butt! ;)

Going to post my thoughts on this ep before reading anything above.

In short, it pretty much sucked.

Derivative of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and haven't we done this mind control thing a million times before?

It was just dull dull dull to watch them all wander around being all happy, as much as I usually moan about everyone in Angel being miserable, I think that is actually a big part of the concept. You know, the loneliness and danger of the big city and growing up. The team just aren't interesting when they are all doped up.

I was waiting for someone to see something different in Jasmine, I had a feeling it might be Cordy, but then on the other hand, knowing that in real life these last few season four episodes must have been filmed roundabout the time Charisma was due to give birth its hard to imagine her playing a big role.

*sigh* looking forward to the next Buffy, because this has been disappointing installment of Angel.

>>>I've now read the above posts, and have had some more thoughts.
For a while I was actually wondering if perhaps Jasmine really was a Big Good instead. I mean, imagine the misdirection if she had somehow been sent by the powers and somebody else, like, I dunno, Connor, was actually the big big bad? There has been a lot of information dumped on us over the last few weeks, and I am still not sure exactly what is going on.
Are we meant to be this confused at this point?

How is Jasmine's big-badness going to manifest itself other that the mind-control bit?

Okay, going against the crowd here, I loved this episode. Okay beginning was a bit wierd but the end was great - it's great to see Fred getting this storyline instead of one of the usual suspects, Angel, Cordy Conor.

Quote "For a while I was actually wondering if perhaps Jasmine really was a Big Good instead. I mean, imagine the misdirection if she had somehow been sent by the powers and somebody else, like, I dunno, Connor, was actually the big big bad?"

Yeah, I thought that for a while too, especially with

S7 Buffy spoiler

the first evil in Buffy. I thought maybe Jasmine, as one of the beings who roamed the earth before good and evil, was here to fight it. (probably just looking too hard for Buffy and Angel to crossover with storylines)

but Jasmine was created with the blood of an innocent, that can't be good can it? But would love to know what her deal is, I mean she's doing good at present, how or when is it all going to go wrong...

This was quite possibly the worst episode of Angel ever. The whole episode was just everyone wandering around with big goofy smiles on their faces, and every single word uttered by Jasmine was so sickening it made you want to gag. :dead:

Also, I am so totally confused at this point. The whole time that this thing was controlling Cordy, it was slaughter, blood and evilness. Then as soon as she is born, it's "Kill all the demons, let everyone live in peace and harmony"? I'm assuming that this is leading up to something, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what.

Something else that bugged me - ok, Fred can see Jasmine's "true nature" or whatever, nothing wrong with that. But where was the explanation for why she could? All we got was that she is 'chosen' for some reason.

The one thing that really sticks out - Angel, he of the black-on-black-on-black look, was wearing a WHITE shirt!!! That just shows that evil is afoot. :p

I was glad that Fred was able to see the real Jasmine (ick by the way) because if she couldn't and they all went around sickeningly happy I would have been mightily miffed. I know it can't be done but I really wish the LA lot kept in touch with Sunnydale. If I'd have been Fred I'd have kept driving till I was parked outside Buffy's house. Not even a phone call? Shouldn't they be warned about a maggot-woman roaming about?

I didn't find this ep terribly exciting but I'm glad Fred has more to do and get the chance to act a little tougher.

BTW, who was Fred chosen by? And like smaug I didn't really get why either.

I thought it was ok, thought the fighting in the bowling alley was funny and I liked the reactions of the others and the light clothing reminding me of those sort of cults. I think some of you get WAY too riled up sometimes, this was ok while not brilliant, it gave someone else the chance to take the torch for a bit; was funny in places and I found it enjoyable. It wasn't bad enough to get stressed over LOL

Not my favourite episode, but I thought it was all right. Just not enough happened in the episode.
Oh and as for Fred, it gets explained in the next episode. And makes a lot of sense.

Looking forward to that one then, thanks Shaun.
