Hopefully many of you are familiar with filks in which words of a well known song are rewritten to reflect sci-fi/fantasy concepts.

Here are my first 3 attempts, in which 3 are all I've done so far.

Leela Leela a FUTURAMA filk to the tune of Louie Louie

Leela Leela, oh baby, me gotta go.
Leela Leela, oh baby, me gotta go.

A fine cyclopsed girl, she pilots P.E.
She fly P.E. ship 'cross't galaxy.
Bender cooks slug in oven.
Fry never thinks he'll make it home.

Leela Leela, me gotta go.

Three nights and days trek galaxy.
Brannigan is a dumb monkey.
Kif, Zapp's second does agree.
Though he's thinking of Amy.

Leela Leela, me gotta go.

Prof. says good news everyone.
Zoidberg does medicine all wrong
Hermes think bureaucracy fun
Planet Express continues to run.

Leela Leela, oh baby, I said we gotta go.

Just A Simple Man to Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man
I based this on Star Wars-Episode II: Attack Of The Clones and the relationship between Jango Fett and his clone son Boba. As you recall Jango referred to himself as 'just a simple man trying to make his way in the universe'. Since Lynyrd Skynyd's Simple Man had a similar idea behind it it seemed like a good match.

Jango told me when I was young
"Come sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say
Do this it will help get important bounty some day"
"Oh, be patient, don't move too fast
Troubles will come and they will pass
Go find bounty, and do that you'll love
Don't forget, Boba, there are rewards up above"
chorus:
"And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something only you will understand
Boba, be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me, son, if you can"
"Forget your lust for glory of old
All that you need is in your soul
And you can do this, oh Boba, if you try
All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied"
chorus
Oh yes, I will
"Boy, don't you worry, you'll find yourself
Follow your heart and nothing else
And you can do this, oh Boba, if you try
All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied"
chorus
Boba, be a simple, really simple man
Oh, be something only you understand.

Arcturian Girl to Tom Petty's American Girl
The first one I ever did.

Well she was an Arcturian girl
Raised on promises
She couldn't help thinking that there
Was a little more to life
Than homeworld
And it was a great big galaxy
With lots of planets to fly to
Yeah, and if she had to die
Trying she had one little promise
She was gonna keep

Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an Arcturian girl

It was kind of cold that night
She stood looking out her viewport
She watched transports fly by
Outpost 531
As meteors hit the ground
And for one desperate moment there
He crept back in her memory
Oh it's so painful
Something that's so close
And still so far out of reach

Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an Arcturian girl
