Just thinking about this the other day - does everybody live at Buffy's?

-may contain slight S7 spoilers up to point of UK viewers-

-Okay, so Buffy and Dawn obviously,

-Giles doesn't have a place anymore in US so he has to stay at Buffy's,

-all the potentials have to be under Buffy's eye so they have to stay there (even tho' one of them actually lives in Sunnydale, so I don't know how she explained to her parents that she had to move in with her student counsellor),

-Willow moved in at the beginning of S6 and never left (does she even pay rent?),

-Spike, after conveniently forgetting that he had his own crypt and brief spells in the school basement and Xanders has settled nicely into Buffy's basement (what is it with him and basements),

-Andrew needs to be under Buffy's eye so now kips on the couch,

-Xander has his own place but quite amazingly eats sleeps and lives at Buffy's

-and Anya used to have her own apartment but I think she was evicted or it got wrecked or it came with the vengence demon gig or something, so guess what - she lives at Buffy's.

So, assuming this isn't an attempt to break a world record or anything - what is going on? Do any of them pay rent, is Buffy keeping everyone on a student counsellor's wage (and not a full one at that) or are the writers just too stingy to buy another set? Just something to ponder....

This post has info up through "Dirty Girls" - but covered in Spoiler boxes --

This first bit - is about 'living arrangements'
In "Dirty Girls" - Xander and a whole crowd of the potentials are back at his apartment

And, in "Him" - Spike moved into Xander's closet (dig *that* metaphor *sigh*) - and was there for a few episodes - until Buffy chained him to the basement

But, the potentials are there b/c they really don't have anywhere else to go - though, I'm kinda confused about Amanda too - why she doesn't stay at her place and why she's never seen talking about or mentioning her parents / family.

But - yeah - there are a LOT of ppl in that house --- kinda filled to capacity - 'no room at the inn' thing going on ---

This is somehting that has bugged the hell out of me! All of them are living there but Buffy's the only one who works! Xander has a job yeah but when was the last time you saw him there?

And Anya's out of work cuz the Magic Box is gone so she's not doing anything. So who is paying for all the food, bills, and other stuff?

I mean Wood even said that the gig at the school paid like nothing so how is anything being paid? Is Xander paying everything with the money he gets for never going to work and only seeming to ever fix Buffys house?

I wondered about this when i saw how many potentials there were in "Get it done". The food and electricity bills must have gone through the roof!

Remember in S6 when Buffy was having real money problems - and that was only with 2 or 3 people in the house! Now apparantly she's feeding the 5 thousand on what was basically described as a **** wage! Okay, maybe Giles gives her money, but he doesn't seem to do anything now - where's his cash coming from??? Plus as well as no-one going to work, Dawn and wots her name don't go to school anymore either, Willow made a big deal about going back to uni and hasn't been seen there since (okay CWDP excepted) - is it always Saturday???

7.18 Dirty Girls onward spoiler:
Yeah...Faiths back:D
Is anyone looking forward to that reunion between Buff and Faith??

I know I am:D

It might not always be Saturday, but I am pretty sure it is frequently evening time on the show.
I figure Giles is giving them some financial help - indeed he might be bankrolling the entire house - he seemed to have a sweet country pad in England. Way back when we learned about GIles's rebellious youth I always assumed he came from a wealthy and priviledged background - that's what he was rebelling againsts. Also remember that he was a total layabout in Season 4 and was able to survive quite well. I'm thinking he has investments and trust funds and all that kind of stuff ferreted away.
Did he actually BUY the Magic Shop in S5? If so, perhaps there was an insurance payout after the place got trashed by Willow.

And as for Xander - isn't he a supervisor-type? Maybe he just pops in now and then to see how work is going, but doesn't really need to be on-site all the time.

I think you'll find Giles did buy the magic box in S5 'cos when he went back to England he left it in the care of Anya. It's possible the insurance from the magic shop helps pay the bills.

What about the potential slayers themselves, maybe they're contributing?? after all they must have had something from their watchers before they were bumped off.

You know what Spikes like for finding money, I know he's good now but this is an emergency. The powers that be may overlook him little indescretions to find some dosh.

Edited to cover spoilers from ep 7.18 Dirty Girls onwards:
Yeah...Faiths back

I know I am

Ok, thats good news, but can we have spoiler warnings please? Here in merry old England we're only on "Storyteller"! ;)

Oh I'm so sorry little smaug:( :(

I'm over here too but I'm watching it on Sky.
I didn't think will try to be more careful:D :D

Thats ok, i'll forgive you this time. :D
But i'm watching it on sky too, how come you know about it? Was it a trailer for this weeks ep?

OK Guys, I edited the spoilers in.
Maybe we should take the specific chat contained in the spoilers to a new thread? It isn't really to do with the sleeping arrangements at Buff's.

Speaking of which, in Storyteller we see all the girls training - there really are loads of them! Buffy's house must smell like my old boarding school :dead:

Nope little smaug. spoiler alert, sorry don't know how to diguise it.

Faith was on Angel with Willow last thursday.
So watch it tonight (Buffy I mean)

I wouldn't fancy the smell there either:dead:

OKay folks quick lesson on creating spoiler tags.

WHen you are writing your message place the bit that is a spoiler in between these tags:

(spoiler)Write spoilerificness in here(/spoiler)

But when you do it for real, swap the regular brackets for square brackets.

If this didn't make sense please pm me and I will try to explain it better...

Sorry, Tab, somehow this set of recent posts escaped my notice until now. Thanks for helping out.

It also might be helpful to read The Rules of Etiquette. No one here has abused any of the rules, but it also contains a definition of spoilers and the proper way to include spoilers in your posts.

The safest method of all is to limit your discussion of plot details to the episode discussions. That way you can be sure that anyone reading about that particular episode wants to hear and discuss details that might still be unknown to those that haven't seen it.

For instance, the last episode that you have seen that includes a big gang of people at Buffy 's house is probably the best place to ask about how so many people (especially girls :p) manage to live in a house with only one bathroom.

Thanks for the help folks:D

Has anyone kept count of how many girls there are?
