i booked my tickets now i need to buy the plane tickets. I have never booked a plane ticket before so i need some advice. The last time i traveled was when college booked the ticket and arranged the insurance for me :p

Anyway, i like some advice such us which insurance company would you recommend, airlines and places to purchase the plane tickets.

I have checked both virgin atlantic and british airways and their return tickets are around about £300-500...is this usually how much they cost?

Insurance, the only insurance i have seen are the one offered in Boots...but than again i worked at Boots :p

Also, i read some post about gategoers, anyone in this is group and is from UK?

Never been to Canada, but will be staying there for about 2 weeks, so im hoping to make some new friends while im over there.

Hey there,

Im not going...(worse luck) but the best place I think to buy tickets is www.expedia.co.uk

There you can put in where you are going from where your going to and the dates and it will give you a choice of flights and prices...they sometimes also offer you hotels and insurance on the same page.

I got my ticket from UK to Germany last year and it was fine...also got the insurance there too!

Good luck! :rolly2:

Firstly, join Gategoers. There's a lot going on that you'll miss if you don't. Also LOADS of UK people going.

A lot of us are getting a flight with Canadian Affair , leaving London Gatwick 11.30 on the 6 th and coming back 20 th. Not the cheapest, and not the fastest. But you don't have to change (it lands in Calgary but you don't get off) and they do premier seats for the price of a BA economy. *g*

Where the heck did you see a flight for £300 though? I'm guessing it was either for this time of year, or didn't include taxes, or you are going to have to change 10 times and it's going to take you two days... Canadian Affair economy is about the cheapest I've seen, though I've heard some people have found cheaper flights going via Amsterdam. Prices are about 450 to 700 from what I've seen. Mines around 650, but I've gone for the premier. *g*

Gategoers is a good list. The cheapest flight I have found is through Canadian Affair and it was about £416, but not a premier seat, just plain old bog standard economy. I am not actually travelling with the Gategoers Gatwick Express though since I have to travel with the airline stated in company travel policy.

I am not actually attending the con because I am working part of that weekend, but I may just pop in and try to touch base with some of the people that I only know from lists and forums. Which means I won't be going into the actually event hall itself, just the surrounding areas that a non attendee can reach.

So you never know, we may get to meet!

:D

Great, thanks for the reply. I did more search and it looks like Canadian Affair is the cheapist that i have seen.

Gonna book my tickets, since a premier seat is rather cheap compared to other companies, i might go with that. If thats the case, it will have to be on the Sunday 7th instead of the 6th. Since all the premier seats are booked :(

Yep, just got accepted into the Gategoers list. Posted a question as will :)

Would be great to meet other people that are a fan of the show :)

None of my friends are into Stargate :(

Welcome!

Welcome to GateGoers, Shen. I'll look for you there. ;)

If I was you I'd phone Canadian Affair. I think sometimes seats might still come available. If you really want to come with the group it might be possible to book normal one way and premier the other... and maybe if I premier did come up you'd be able to upgrade.

Anyway, see you on the way back if not before!

Rowan Green,

Why didn't i thought of that :p

Will phone tomorrow and see if theres any seats. Otherwise, i will just take the economy or fly out on the following day.
