we're already told how the trilogy ends...

the W Bros. didnt really plan on this movie being a trilogy, so they pretty much told you how its going to end, at the very end of the original Matrix...by neo himself.

"...i'm going to hang up this phone [and show them a world without you], without borders or boundaries, a world, where anything is possible..."

so basically the matrix will exist at the end of the trilogy, it will just be "maintained" by neo in the end...

feel free to agree or disagree...im bored and could use the excitment. *yawn*

hmm, are we sure about that?

Seriously, I already thought they had the story planned out. Even if the first one was the only movie, I think they had a bigger story in mind, so I don't know. Interesting point, I think the Matrix will be destroyed, no reason, just my prediction.;)

Had to move this here since it relates to the entire trilogy. :D

Yeah, but Neo says specifically, "I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end, I came here to tell you how it's going to begin."

This is merely the beginning of Neo's journey. His mission is really to educate other humans so they can decide for themselves. I think that the trilogy will ultimately end with a matrix still in tact and humans will be able to chose to stay or leave... and machines will either learn to chose, too, or learn to live with fewer humans powering them.

Or something else entirely. :D I'm open... and I hope I'm surprised. I love it when that happens.

at moment, I am for Matrix being maintained but in cooperation with Humans controlling and most likely by Neo

But Neo will have to do this by scarificing himself, ie become like a programme thus fulfilling Persephone's "Such a thing is not meant to last"

In addition, The Matrix Online game which is set AFTER Revolutions and seem to suggest players play 2 sides of players fighting would suggest Matrix persisting....why humans fighting each other? perhaps some would feel Matrix should be controlled by humans/Neo and others feel (like Morpheus?) that humans better off being freed en-masse.

Thoughts?

Haven't seen the online game... where is it?

And I keep going back to the fact that Neo might die in Revolutions, too. :crying:

check out http://thematrixonline.warnerbros.com/

This paragraph describing game looks particualrly interesting

"There are subways, nightclubs, skyscrapers, and dark alleys that all seem normal on the surface, but beneath this urban exterior, a secret war is being waged for the survival of humanity and machine alike. Here, you and may operatives like yourself, will determine who shall inherit the earth"

Interesting eh? kinda makes the different human factions theory of control of Matrix seems possible...

As for Neo dying, well think of it as a sacrifice for all of humanity not to mention allowing Trinity to live as well :) He may not be truly dead but more non-corporeal and godlike in managing the Matrix...

i don't think Neo will die, i think he knows it would benefit everyone if he was still in the real world. I don't think he would be able to live as the matrix without Trinity, maybe he can actually control the machines outside because of what he did to the Sqiddies and the fact that he said 'i can feel them'

But then cersei posted this puzzler:

Snerched from another bboard:

"The original Matrix starts with Trinity and Cypher talking, the screen shows "Trace Program" and the date '2-18-98'.

"The movie ends with Neo making a phone call, the trace program is initiated and the date reads "9-18-99"... 19 months have passed!

"If you watch the movie again, you'll see that the time sequence implies that they found Neo shortly after that initial conversation (a few months after 2-18-98 at most).

"Significant? Yes; I propose that Reloaded and Revolutions (which we know occur one after another), take place between 2-18-98 and 9-18-99."

I argued that Neo being "freed" had to have occurred sometime in the Matrix year 1999 because Morpheus tells Neo (aboard the Neb) "you believe it is the year 1999, when in fact it's closer to 2199...."

After more thinking, even if Neo was "freed" on say Feb. 18th, 1999 (inside the Matrix), then everything else could still have happened within the months remaining between then and Sept. 18, 1999. It is still possible that this theory could have some merit. After all, the events taking place in Reloaded and Revolutions take place in a matter of days, as opposed to the original film's weeks (or months).

So if the above theory is true, then we do indeed already know how the trilogy will end... the way it ended in the original film. That phone call would be the end.

Now what do you think?

hey, thats a good theory, i never even thought about it being like that

u know pkgrl, i am incresingly thinking this date thing may be ONLY real actual mistake by the W Brothers in The Matrix....

One thing that keeps bugging at me is why Neo would go back into that dress code LOL I know...only a girlie thing but it bothers me and makes me think it was in sequential order ie that phone call happened between end of Matrix and beginning of Reloaded..

If it is a "mistake" by the Wachowski brothers, then it's the kind of thing they would have changed if they created a "director's cut" of the film, which they said they would NOT do. If they didn't intend for us to take it the way your spoiler-informant ;) theorized, then it's because they never thought they'd be able to make the other two movies for audiences. They probably thought, well, this is it. better make it count. and nothing more.

Guess we'll see in November, eh?

two heads are better than one...

what if neo sorta "splits" himself in revolutions...so that he can remain in the matrix as a program while unplugged in the real world...then you could have him fighting smith program to program and bane, man to man...that way neo could sacrifrice himself in the matrix, yet still be alive with trinity in the real world.

okay, thats way out there, but ya never know.

ä

hey, anderdude, nobody really foresaw Smith being able to copy himself. so neo being able to "split" isnt so very far gone.
