Gate Grind is a charity hike to take place in Vancouver, Canada, on Tuesday September 16th 2003. We’ll be climbing the Grouse Grind trail to raise money for the CCFF (Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation) and DEBRA UK (charity for people with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
Cystic Fibrosis is a fatal genetic condition which causes problems with breathing and digestion. In Canada 1 in 2500 people born have CF.
Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a family of genetic disorders which cause blistering of the skin and mucous membranes from the slightest friction. In it’s most severe forms EB leads to death within a couple of years.
The website for Gate Grind is now fully operational at www.gategrind.org, and there is lots that everyone can do to help. Whether you have time, money, or not much of either!
We are looking for (of course) donations: we are trying a new idea in charity fundraising. The Gate Grind website is set up so that you can donate directly to the charities on our behalf. Every penny goes direct to the charities without worry about our security.
You can also help by telling your friends, family, workmates, neighbours… flyers are available at the site, or you can make one yourself if you feel inspired! Details at the site.
And of course, you could do the hike yourself. It’s a real challenge. More information at the site.
Please visit the website and see what you can do to help.
