What is everyone's favourite go'auld and why? Mine is Apophis the brother of the most powerful system lord ever, and he dosn't half have a little temper does he.

Apophis is mine too cause he was one of the first we saw and I juts though he was v cool and evil

And he has a habit of coming back from the dead don't he :D

Apophis is impressive, yes, and I love the Jamaican lilt that pops out now and again, :) but there are two others whom I prefer, and it's difficult to chose between them.

I like Yu because he's pretty smart for a Goa'uld. Although he's an enemy, he's one we can do business with because he can see that it may be in his interest to do so. It doesn't make him any less dangerous, because any alliance will be broken as soon as it ceases to benefit him.

The other is Baal. Again, a smart cookie rather than a ranter, and oh so delightfully sinister. You could see the pleasure he took in torturing poor Jack, but it wasn't over-the-top glee.

One bad guy line that always makes me laugh is in 'Jolinar's Memories'. Bynarr commands:

"Throw them into The Pit."

Best wishes,
Hatshepsut

Apophis is one of my faves as well....love the way that he would always pop up!

Osiris (sp?) was also a fave of mine too! :D

Hathor for me. A major babe with such a power over men. :rolly2:

I'd go for Osiris. She's a Goa'uld with grace (I think). Osiris has this certain air around her. And I just adore the English accent.

Although Anubis can be my favorite as well cause he's so mysterious, and all dark Lord.

;)

I like Osiris, I don't quite know why though, she seems really cool to me.

Yeah same for me..I always thought she had bit of a sence of humor...always made me laugh! :D

Fave goa'uld. Hmmm.

For the ones who are alive come the end of series 5, which ended some weeks back here in the UK (Channel 4, that is), Osiris is probably my fave. A combination of styles between quiet and menacing and sheer megalomania.

I liked Tanith too: smoothly sinister in style. Far better then his daddy Apophis on that count. Jack, though, does have a point:

"That guy is a living cliche"

Must have passed through the genetic memory.

Sci-Fi16: Apophis was not Taniths daddy :)

I like Tanith as well, he was a piece of good (understand: evil) goa'uld :)

I'm not sure we can state that categorically.

In "Serpents Grasp" Daniel proposed that the symbiote Klorel might be the biological son of the symbiote Apophis. It is therefore reasonable to assume that other Goa'uld could be his sons: such a relationship would make them more loyal and less likely to rebel (as discussed in "Serpents Lair"). We can presume that the Shan'auc came from Chulak, home of Apophis, since Bra'tac helped send her through to the SGC. Although unlikely, it IS possible that Tanith was therefore Apophis' son... ;)

I think my current favorite is Ba'al. He can be deliciously evil. And he handles pressure well without losing his cool.

Doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes. :)

Well, I suppose it is possible then...

I really liked Nirti, but not in that dominatrics leather get-up

I was thinking along the lines of Shau'nac being from Chulak and Apophis being the Goa'uld ruler of that planet - possible therefore that the symbiote larvae incubated by Chulak jaffa were his.

Not that it was intended as a serious comment to start with, not one I'd put too much thought into at the time. Evidently. :)

My Faves

Personally, I prefer Apophis as the Number One Bad Guy. Although he started as a somewhat pantomime, cartoony bad-guy, he gradually became a very 3-D character with different levels and more of a better character. I think ultimately, he got better once he returned from the dead (and what a return! I still love that reveal at the end of "Jolinahr's Memories" where he takes off his helmet and say's "APOPHIS". Speaking of that, it sounded a lot like the sound guys turned up the volume on his voice so it was more dramatic. If you want to know what I'm talking about, watch the aforementioned scene and compare it to the replay of it in the next episode. They definitely sound different.). I also like the next few times we see him in "Serpent's Venom". He has a REALLY cool outfit along with several scantily-clad women gathering around him giving him "pleasure".

Anyway, besides Apophis, I also like Ba'al, Sokar and Anubis. I wish that Sokar hadn't been killed off, he REALLY was evil! Still, in a way they've brought him back with Anubis (David Palffy played both parts!).

Still, I don't like the way that the producers and writers sometimes just use the Goa'uld briefly. Apophis, Anubis and Cronus fell into this category. One episode just had Apophis' voice! If the writers are going to use the characters, they should use them more each episode!

for some reason, i tend to like most of the Go'auld (no i'm not evil....promise). Especially liked Nirti though - she's not just about dramatic threats but always seems to have a trick or two up her sleeve.

And speaking of underused Go'aulds, how about Amaunet - come on, her host was Daniel's wife plus she's Apophis's queen - hows that for potential? But she was practically ignored except for a few moments of a couple of episodes :(
