Starting today:

August 1st 2003, and through to December 31st 2003, you can log in to http://www.startrekguru.com/ and answer 10 multi-choice Star Trek questions to win the title "International Star Trek Guru 2003."

The bad news for American Trekkers, is that you can only compete if you live in one of eight countries: the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Australia.

You also have to be 18 or older.

The questions are taken from all of the films and TV series of Star Trek.

There is no time limit to answering, and you can retrospectively go back and answer the previous weeks questions later. For that reason, the answers will not be revealed until the end of the quiz.

The first person to answer all 10 questions each week will win a prize, then there will be top winners in each country, and then a final winner who has conquered the world! (except for the USA and France and Japan and anywhere in America or Africa or Asia.....) Apparently, this ran last year (2002) in just the UK and Germany.

I've just answered the first weeks 10 questions. I'm hoping that they get a little harder, because those were like the kind of questions that you get on morning televison to entise you to call 0900 telephone numbers at £5.00 a minute.

hmmm i see what you mean about the questions - maybe it's to try and entice people back?

That's completly unfair! I mean, come on! Trek was invented here in the US! Why should we be the ones to not get to play? I feel I've been stiffed my rights as a citizen of the US.

Okay, just so you know, I'm not nearly as mad as that sounds to have come out. It just ticks me off quite a bit.

It frequently goes the other way too:(

Yeah, I know. Either way it goes, I always see it as pretty sucky. I just wish it wasn't that way, especially so I could do fun quizes. I'm a huge Trekkie!

I've discovered that you can still do last years quiz (just for fun.) The later questions are much harder and the easy starting ones. The final week is very hard indeed. I got 8/10, so I'm probably unlikely to win the title this year, but I guess that's not a bad score. It says that you should be pleased if you get more than 5/10.
