According to the Houston Chronicle, a British newspaper has polled 60 scientists, to find out what science fiction films they like, and what science fiction authors they most like to read. "Blade Runner" was named as their favorite film, and Isaac Asimov as their favorite science fiction writer with his "I, Robot" as their favorite of his books.

Their other favorite films, in order:

2001: A Space Odyssey
Star Wars
The Empire Strikes Back
Alien
Solaris (1972)
Terminator
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
The Day The Earth Stood Still
War of the Worlds
The Matrix
Close Encounters of the Third Kind

After Asimov, their favorite sf writers were:

John Wyndham
Fred Hoyle
Philip K. Dick
H. G. Wells
Ursula Le Guin
Arthur C. Clarke
Ray Bradbury
Frank Herbert
Stanislaw Lem

Sounds to me like those scientists would feel quite at home around here.:D
