As Teal'c Fans -- I am wondering....

I have only just started to watch the Stargate Episodes.....and as I stated-- am hooked on Teal'c and the Teal'c/ Jack Friendship.

What I have found hard to understand in this world of Stargate is this seemingly endless fascination so many people have with Daniel? Now, maybe it is just my personality in general, my age, the way I see life -- but what little exposure to the show I have had---

(and in all fairness, I am watching the show in the sequence, as a fan, that all of you oldies did -- when it first came on the air)....I simply can not get into his character.

My friend, who is a major Jack fan, seems to be able to see more worthwhile stuff in Daniel-- but also finds him somebody she'd sooner smack upside the head than have around.

So-- anyway-- what I am wondering is-- for the other TEAL'C fans-- (because I realize true blue Daniel fans will have endless reasons to love him) -- how do you perceive his character as to how he:

1. Fits into the SG1 team

2. Interacts with Jack -- meaning, when he refuses to obey orders, acts "superior" to Jack-- and also, when he is being a "nice guy" friend.

3. How he interacts with Teal'c -- In the early Episodes -- I always get the feeling Daniel does not have Teal'cs Back covered...ya know. Like he wants to get even for the "wife thing".

4. How his, "walk right up to," touch everything, get into trouble, get everybody else into trouble all the time, ways affect how you see him?

5. What do you think are his best qualities? His worst?

I don't want to do a anti-Daniel event-- just trying to understand him more, because I want to do fan fiction. And I am thinking that fellow TEAL'C fans can given me insight....perhaps more balanced than my own.

I think I might ask a similar question on the other boards.

THANKS!!!!!

I could write all night . . .

:D Thinking back on when I first started to watch the epys, Teal'c originally became a favorite because of his courage and integrity, both of which he keeps no matter what. (o.k. I admit Chris Judge's appearance caught me first. The guy is just good scenery. . . ) :naughty: Then there is the obvious fun in watching his blend into our society. Fortunately Teal'c is blending into the military since he is a warrior first and foremost! You later find out he likes the tabloids! :laugh2: And the initial episodes show clearly what would happen if an alien shows up, even when he shows up as a friend of a Colonel. And on the occasion or two when Teal'c is behaving "superior," there is no arrogance, no "I am better than you are" behavior or even implied; that is true now during the current season. Teal'c is the perverbial "good guy."

Daniel is a nerd on wheels. If Shanks wasn't good looking, they would have had a problem moving forward with this character; books can only go so far. When any show has military and civilian characters, there is the inevitable clash of ideas; this show is no different. The "relationship" between Jack and Teal'c, and Jack and Daniel adds to the believability of meshing civilian and military.

Interestingly enough, Sam is also a geek. With her, the end result is that we actually have become accustomed to her prattling scientifing terms. We may not pay specific attention to her explanations, but Amanda Tapping makes it sound persuasive, and we believe the character knows what she's talking about! :rolly2: And I am willing to bet the male fans also find Tapping's beauty very persuasive as well . . . :upto:
