What's in a Name

Hi. Kind of new here, so I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I was goofing around online and I decided to look up the meaning of the names of the main characters. According to this source, at least, they all have some interesting things in common

Daniel: God is my Judge
Samantha: Listener of God
Jack/Jonathan: Gift of God


Teal'c of course, is not listed. But considering the nature of the show, and it's religious implications, I thought it was interesting (and almost too coincidental) that all the names should have a meaning related to God. Is this just a coincidence, or is it a deliberate act on the part of the people who created the original characters, and do the characters as they exist today reflect the meanings of their names?

Wow, those actually sort of have signifigence charecter-wise as well.

Daniel: God is my Judge (Dan revealed this in Crossroads, BTW), Daniel is the moral center to the team, he's always trying to do the right thing. As if he knows that God is judging him and he wants to do a good job.

Sam (This is prolly Samuel, not Samantha, right? I don't tghink Samantha was a name in the bible): Listener of God: She's a scientist, a scholar, a listener. Science and everything else is God's creation.

Jack: God's gift. To women. OK, this doesn't REALLY work, but it does in a way.
