The NX-01 gets closer to a showdown with the Xindi when Captain Archer takes on an enigmatic passenger: a beautiful slave named Rajiin.

Rick Berman: ...We are going to encounter a beautiful woman who has certain siren-like seductive qualities that allow her to be somewhat irrestible to both males and females.

Rajiin seduces Archer, T'Pol and possibley Hoshi to get info on human biology. The Xindi hire her to do this because they want to build a bio-weapon.

This was one of the better episodes in my opinion. It was cool seeing the crew totally at a disadvantage coupled with the uncertainty about the future.

I agree with it being a better episode for those reasons. The way that the Xindii blew the airlock door off, had better energy weapons and that strange 'egg on the wall' thing that exploded darts, the tool that opened the brig door, and the vortex that the two ships disappeared into: they all made them seem much more technically superior and therefor a more difficult foe.

But I was surprised that Archer fell for that old trick of 'planting a spy by having them rescued' ruse anyway. I thought that he was far too naive, and gave her much too freedom around the ship.

It left a few unanswered questions like what Rajiin actually did with her hands, how she recorded the scans, and why she was so interested in T'pol. The Xindii council seemed to have some interanl divisions too. The reptilian species appears to be much more aggressive than the others.

A couple of things were odd. Hoshi said that she'd like to hear Rajiin's language. So, what language was she speaking, English? And Rajiin already seemed to know all about Vulcans, asking T'pol how she could stand to live on a ship full of humans, and commenting on her neurology. Bear it in mind that she didn't say the same things to Dr Phlox.

Think this was the best episode of the season, things started to happen and Enterprise lost.

Small conceern is that if they are so much more advanced, why do they need to create an ultimate weapon? Though that is a minor aside.

I thought that Rajin's hand trick was comparable with the actions from the Vulcan mind meld, only a bit more invasive and a whole lot more powerful. It would at least explain her interest in Vulcans and why T'Pot had her mind fried, though perhaps not the ease of her being put back on her feet.

As the Vulcans have sent a few ships to the area, even if they did not get them back, it is not unreasonable to suppose Rajin might have heard of and/or met a few. Whilst Phlox, not having any 'telepathic abilities' was of less interest and threat.

Pity Rajin made it so obvious she was a spy though, it made Archer and his cohorts look even bigger mugs than normal.
