What do you think about the addition of the MACOs to Enterprise?

Military Assault Command Operations (MACOs) are meant to emhasise the change of tone and bold new direction that Season 3 takes. They have been compared to the Marines in 'ALIENS'.

Brannon Braga said in the latest issue of Dreamwatch magazine: "I've always thought our security forces on Star Trek looked a little lame — these guys running around in Starfleet uniforms with little pistols. I always thought it was kind of goofy."

There will be many new characters introduced, but they are being brought in slowly, so not all are introduced yet. Among the MACOs are:

Major Hayes Steven Culp

Sergeant Kemper Nathan Anderson

Corporal Chang Daniel Dae Kim

Corporal Romero Marco Sanchez

McKenzie Julia Rose

Well over the years normal Star Fleet security have proven their inability to secure a kindergarten picnic. As such I've always wondered why there was no Marine detachment of some form.

So I will watch these gentlemen with some (professional?) interest. They can't be any worse than security, but they could be the same thing in Junglies?
