My fave of all the recent X books was Gambit which was cancelled at #25 about 2 or 3 years ago. I liked Fabien's handling of the character the new Son mystery and the search for the truth about his past. Then their are of course the supporting chacters my fave was the Courier.
Thats the Joss Whedon one right? I'm thinking of picking this up but since my urge to so is solely based on me being a huge fan of all his works: Buffy, Angel, Serenity (which IMO is better than Starwars!) and of course, Firefly (the actual series of which Serenity was based) I've been sadly reluctant so far. Have you read any Astonishing X-Men? How well do you think the writing holds up to something like say...Fable, Preacher etc. yes, I know they a totally different, but I'm trying to be absolutely sure before I commit, 'cause I've stumbled upon a lot of trash which initial had huge names attached to it (Author C. Clarke's Rama sequels come to mind; Rama Revealed, In the Garden of Rama etc etc. which I think some other writers did which were piss pure compared to the original excellent Rendezvous with Rama).
