Telepathy!

Okay, I'm going to TRY to get this forum moving again.

What would you do if you had some sort of accident (much like many of the Talents did) and you discovered telepathy, telekinesis, whatever?

Lol, I'd probably keep it to myself and then get mad and probably hurt someone with it >_<. Heh, at least I'm honest.

Well a brave try SilverCaladin, but we are in the backwoods!

I can think of a lot of good uses for telepathy and an equal number of bad uses. Unfortunately all the bad ones correlate directly with the good ones (e.g. finding what people really think and finding they think it of you).

Unless there are off switches so that you cannot feel emotion for what you 'hear', I think the recipy will result in insanity.

That is if you don't go mad from the noises in your head. That last point has been made in more than one book, though not in any of McCaffrey's that I know of?

Hmm... no I don't think that concept was ever illustrated in Anne McCaffrey's books except maybe in the books that detail the early history of the Talents. Because a lot of the early Talents came from mental institutions and other such places, it makes sense that some of them would have heard voices.

Which book are these in? I've never read any of them so I can't really answer the question but I'd have to say probably keep it to myself unless it would make a big difference to something.
