3.07 The Shipment

Archer, Reed and major Hayes go to a Xindi Sloth colony because a chemical is produced the colony for the weapon. The sloth-Xindi know nothing about this weapon and are horified that the Reptian-Xindi would do such a thing and agree to help Archer track where the chemical is going. Trip and Phlox open up on of the rifles they got from the Xindi and discover that it's power source is a grub of some sort.

I think the organism moderates the weapons power, rather than being the source of the power.

I thought this was one of the best episodes this season. The story wasn't that exciting, but it told more about the 'story Arc plotline' than we have had in all the others so far. There was an obvious attempt to make the 'not all the Xindii are bad' point, but apart from that it was fine. The only criticism would be that Hoshi and Travis were left to pressing buttons again. They are the 'Uhura's of this 'Enterprise'.

The Sloth colony is at the co-ordinates given by the telepath last week. We also meet Degra, the weapon designer, who becomes more important later in this season. So there is some consistency in the story arc being laid down.

Well what do you know?
Last week wasn't as much of a filler as it looked!

It actually sort of built for this week, including a last time on ST Enterprise.

Again things were a little too obvious much too quickly. It was evident from the first that the 'enemy' wasn't a bad enemy at all. They would simply take a word or two from Archer and be filled with remorse. And that Archer was going to let them off with a mild talking too.

It was not a bad, if mild, episode. But rather overshadowed by the showing of the new Battlestar Galactica, which shows how dated ST has become?
