MGM intends to end SG-1 at the close of season eight, and to use it as a lead-in for a second Stargate film, based on SG-1. Movie fans who prefer the original film to the television series may be disheartened; Stargate is possibly one of the best science fiction films made since Star Wars, and director Dean Devlin has said on occasion that he'd love to do a sequel along the same lines as the first, if only MGM would let him.

Where ?

Where did you see this, Lorien? I know there have been rumors of this but I didn't know MGM and/or Bridge had made a firm statement yet.

Yes, please don't burst all of our bubbles unless you're absolutely sure.:(

I believe season 8 will be the final season, but I don't think MGM will be making a movie anytime soon with atlantis coming out. There was a statement made in an interview with RDA about season 8 possibly being the last.

I read a Don s Davis interview and it was not very convinceing if their would be series 8. He said that if they put the money on the table 'MGM' he would have to consider doing an 8th series.I am an avidid stargate fan and if it just comes down to money they want to get rid of the current cast and replace them with a cheaper 'ATLANTIS' crew. On the mgm website they say atlantis should be starting in june same time series 7 ends. STARGATE FOREVER
