My doorbell rang at exactly 6:15pm last night. At which point I jumped out of my chair squealing, "It's my DVD. It's my DVD....Oh and Allan too."
I jumped out of the chair and ran to the door, opening it to find one Allan on my doorstep, shiny purple Gatecon DVD in his hand. After throwing my arms around him for a hug (because I hadn't seen him since our goodbye at the hotel back in BC - even though we live like 10 minutes away), I promptly tried to grab the DVD out of his hands. He decided he'd play funny with me and kept pulling it back everytime I reached for it. I swear I could have decked him.
So I finally had the DVD in my hot little hand. Only problem was I couldn't watch it. I had to go to work for 9 hours. When I arrived home at 3am this morning, I promptly put the first DVD in the computer, quiet not to wake anyone in the house, and watched the fun begin.
Wow, it was like I was back in BC having the time of my life again. The DVD is amazing. First off it has funky menus with cool backgrounds, a definte bonus to get the excitement levels growing.
We kick off with a cool montage of clips on the first morning of the con: people arriving, everyone getting together in the lobby, the famous message board. It's awesome, sitting on the edge of your seat in anticipation. Then comes the opening music video. The fantastic 'Absolutly Everybody' clip, complete with awesome sound and moving pictures and you are overcome with a sense of nostaliga as you remember all the awesome people you met when you were there.
Then the main documentry starts, and we get to see the wonderful Dan Payne in his Jaffa Super Soldier suit chasing around our dear Allan. Then we are taken on a fun trip with clips from each of the guests. It's great becuase it shows the best clips from everyone's set. I think Colin was my favourite. My only qualm was that there wasn't much footage of Miss Teryl and Mr Palffy. But it was fun nontheless.
The first DVD finishes with some great guest interviews and magnificent still galleries with pictures that are such great quality. It's a real treat.
The second DVD contains the whole Shanks set which is just amazing. It's like your reliving it. You can feel the excitment in the room. It's electric.
This is followed by footage from the Charity Auction. Something that I don't think any of us will forget...I think I'll just leave it at that.
More interviews follow on the second disc as well as more excellent stills galleries, including shots from the studio.
All in all I give this DVD 100 :star: out of 10 :star:!
It Rocks!
*Shelby now pockets bribe from Allan for good review* Mwhahahaha....whoops did I say that out loud.
Oh and Tim, I think I actually started squealing when you came on the screen and were being interviewed. "Ah it's Tim, It's Tim" I said, running around the room. I think my parents think I'm a little nuts.
Bring on 2004!
