Sci-Fi not ready to commit to series order just yet.

December 23, 2003 - The success of Sci-Fi Channel's recent Battlestar Galactica re-imagining / re-make must have taken a number of people by surprise. Despite critical and fan lambasting, the mini drew impressive numbers for the cable channel, chalking up some of the best ratings in the network's history, so it seemed inevitable that a series order would be announced soon.

Earlier this week a number of web sites announced that just such an order had been inked. Not so, according to a spokesperson for the Sci-Fi Channel. While it still seems likely that there will be some action on the Galactica front, no orders for either a series or a sequel to the mini-series have come from Sci-Fi Channel. No decisions or orders for new episodes will happen until after the first of the year, so cool your jets, little Colonial Warriors.

That they haven't leapt on the knee jerk, 'We gotta have more of this!' bandwagon, just because a couple of dozen more people watched it than expected is a good thing. Any such panic response would end up total trash, no matter how well intended.

What would be more interesting would be if they are at least contemplating putting ideas together?

Ya know Ray if The Scifi Channel did what ABC had originaly planned to go with Battlestar Galactica.

Have it as a series of TV Movies instead of rushing into a series format, it would work.

See I could run a true Scifi Channel, without Reality TV or that faker talking to the dead, John Edwards, who should be talking to fellow inmates, in prison.

He does this one on one for lots of money, set him up with a Vice or Bunko cop!

Ok one Reality TV show for Edward, when he bends over to pick up soap of the prison shower floor and BOOM, oh I'm nasty.

The question is what is the accurate ratio of viewers that actually enjoyed the mini-series?

What it is is money, not science fiction on a cable The Scifi Channel, when they can buy real Scifi as reruns.

Oh no ST: TNG & ST: DS9 are on Spike.........Ok Scifi has B:5 but it is worn slap out, Stargate-SG1 is on 12 times a week.

Really four Mon. nite once a day Mon. thru Fri. then three on Friday nite, yeah 12 times a week, scifi.com has that Shedule online, read & count the Stargate-SG1's.

Reality TV is cheap, kids love shallow trash!

Horror, Dead back, Sewed up dead chicks, DJ and Dead crime fighters, Dead Gypsies. Vampires, Trekkies, Nudist @ home on your TV.

Go camping, fishing or, (gasp) go to a Library borrow a good tape, or READ A BOOK?
