From SG1_Spoilme

TITLE: "Lockdown" (801)
Writer(s): ?

In a nutshell: Jack O'Neill just can't get a break - Russians, bugs
and the Goa'uld conspire to make his new job as general at the SGC a
major headache.

SG1 is now a three-person team, and O'Neill intends to keep it that
way. When the highly decorated Russian Colonel DIMITRI KARPOV sees
Jack about the job, Jack gives the man the brush-off. Nobody is
joining SG1. Adios, don't let the door hit your butt on the way out,
etc., that kind of welcome <G>. When Daniel goes to soothe the
Russian's ruffled feather over the brusque treatment, he discovers
the Russian is deathly ill with some kind of contagion.

This will soon lead to a lockdown of the base (hence the title) as
the new female base physician, DR. SMITH [my own note - I hope they
change the name, as that reminds me soooo much of Lost in Space)
tells O'Neill that Dimitri is perhaps carrying a contagion.

Meanwhile, Daniel goes off-world. Somewhere along the way he's shot
and is brought back to Earth, where the medical situation is getting
critical.

The rest of the tidbits are nebulous - aka, may not even happen - is
that Anubis is back in a new form, and Dimitri saves Jack from a
pretty hellish death (or worse) and dies (sorta, maybe, not sure).

** As always, information is based upon incomplete information and is
subject to radical change and total overhauls before the actual
episode airs **

Sounds cool, but I am still NOT liking Jack the General.

Also, not liking "new female base physician"..after Janet, they should have a male just to make it a bigger differance. Not a Janet clone!

From Gateworld
Apparently rescued from the edge of death (where he was left at the end of "The Lost City") and promoted to the rank of general in the 2-part season opener, Jack O'Neill has assumed command of the S.G.C. in "Lockdown." Buried in paperwork, O'Neill has little patience for Colonel Dimitri Karpov, the newest Russian officer assigned to Stargate Command. Karpov is enthusiastic and respectful, and inquires as to who O'Neill will assign to replace him on SG-1. Karpov suggests that he be assigned to SG-1. O'Neill, however, intends on keeping SG-1 a 3-person unit.

Daniel tries to reassure Karpov that General O'Neill's decision was nothing personal. Colonel Karpov collapses, and it becomes evident that he has become infected with a mysterious disease. He is attended to by Dr. Smith, the S.G.C.'s new (female) chief medical officer. In response to the unexplained outbreak, O'Neill orders a lockdown of the base. Stargate Command is under quarantine.

Meanwhile, Teal'c visits Karpov in the infirmary. The Russian has been suffering from memory loss, and bizarre dreams. Karpov is afraid that he is losing his mind, and his prognosis isn't good.

Daniel is apparently injured in the line of duty, but manages to recover thanks to Dr. Smith's care. When Daniel experiences the same sort of flashback dreams that Karpov has described, he considers a very disturbing possibility: It is not a disease, but a disembodied alien presence that has affected both he and Karpov. The being seems to be passed from one person to another by a mere touch -- and it's a being they've met before. And the alien is trying to get through the Stargate.

It's just a thought, and a hazy one at that, but I thought I'd mention it... Anubis apparently got blown up at the end of season 7, but what if this 'disembodied alien presence' is Nuby himself? I mean, how do you kill an ascended being?

I dunno... it just popped into my head, and it's kinda stupid...but what do you think?

That would be cool. They wrapped everything up AGAIN (3rd season in a row where they were prepping to end the show and didn't), so it would be cool to keep Anubis around in some capacity until the season (and series) ends. Keep the Goa'uld as the baddies, leave the "Horrible new enemy" to the Atlantis people. Sure, they should have the Wraiths in SG-1, but not as an arch-nemy, sort of like the Replicators.

Yeah, so it seems Lockdown is 8.03, maybe someone should rename this thread to "8.XX Lockdown" until it's confirmed when it will air though. But sounds like a cool episode, hopefully there will be some great O'Neill moments.

I guess with O'Neill as General now it won't be so ungainly not having him around as much. Hammond didn't used to have that much screen time, so I guess in those terms it could work. But I stand by my affirmation that O'Neill could NOT fill Hammond's shoes. He's too much of a rogue!

I'm not so sure I dig this idea with RDA being the General in charge, but not having him replaced on SG-1. Why not bring Nemic back? He had a very slow beginning but really grew into the role by the end of S6??

Judging by he preview, this episode looks pretty good. I guess I should prepare for Teal'c and Sam not to be in it much, becuase it's too much to ask to have all 4 cast members together at once these days, but oh well.

As for Jonas coming back...I think he should join Atlantis instead. I'd love to see him, but he and DJ are pretty alike. If he joined SG-1, the team would be 3 brainiacs and a Jaffa who is forgetting his roots (getting an apartment...growing hair! Bah!).

Hel-looooo.....mods.....Can someone change the title of this thread to the applicable "8.03: Lockdown"?

Looking forward to more SG-1. This early in the season, I am always having a hard time waiting the 7 days in between episodes. New Order and Atlantis Rising have whet my appetite and I am craving more, more MORE! Lockdown looks like it could be a cool episode. So far, most of the Season 8 eps seem like good ole SG-1, and not the Season 7 stinkers. I guess we'll have to wait and see, though. Also...I find it weird that they chose to show Lockdown and then Atlantis: Hide and Seek back to back. They are sort of similar plots, I think they should have had either SG-1 or SGA to be a off-world episode and not...

a "Mysterious non-coporeal entity loose on the base" story.

Still looking forward to them, though.

Just saw this ep, not to give anything away its got something really annoying happening in it, something it would seem the producers love to pull on us again and again:):rolly2:

^^ spoiler ^^
^^ spoiler ^^

I enjoyed the episode, but I was hoping Anubis was dead.

On the bright side they did explain more about how Anubis
could be "half ascended".

The new Doc wasn't horrible, but she wasn't very impressive.
Her voice seemed so . . not good . .
It wasn't a resonate voice. It was almost child like.

It was interesting to see how Jack handled his first big
situation as General, but it wasn't anything surprising.

I enjoyed the episode, but it's hard to thing of anything that was
particularly great about it. There is this feeling of been-there-done-that.

Say what happend to the guy from Conan getting shot by Dr. Jackson? Wasn't that suppose to be this episode?
Or is it some other episode?

If it was this episode was it cut for time?

I enjoyed the episode, it was good. I was surprise that it was Anubis, although I don't find it entirely bad since after so much promotion of Anubis as the goaul'd with so much new weapons and knowledge different from the rest of the goauld's, I find the way they killed him was very easy and fast. But the question now is, is he finish now. Seeing where they send him or could he some how survive that too.

Poor Colonel Karpov, I really like the guy. Is bad that he only could fullfill his desire to get throught the stargate letting Anubis take his body. :(

It was interesting and hilarious to see Jack as General, specially when he take the decision that SG1 will remain a three person team after Sam's words. Looks like he doesn't want anyone to take his place in the team.

Krystal :p

I thought it was a pretty good episode. Not the best SG-1 has had to offer, but certainly better than some Season Seven Stinkers. There was no shortage of O'Neill, and he was his usual self...all of SG-1 got equal screen time...it felt like a classic, pre-season 7 episode IMO! I called it with the Anubis thing, hah! I am also 95% sure this won't be the last time we're seeing Anubis...as per my gut and something one of the procuder/writers said a while back. I don't recall the exact quote or who said it, though.

Wasn't the Russian named Vaselov? He was Karpov during pre-production, but they must have changed it becuase I was hearing Vaselov.

As for Pierre Bernard's appearance...I think that might be next episode, Zero Hour. In the clip they showed he was telling O'Neill that Colonal Carter was transmitting her IDC, and Carter wasn't offworld in Lockdown, but WILL be in Zero Hour.

Just wondering what this means for the gorgeous Mr. Pallfy? Now that Anubis is frozen on that planet, we may never see 'black cloak Nuby' again, and thus, no David on the show. :(

I didn't like this even half as much as the 'Stargate Atlantis' episode that followed immediately after it on Sky One tonight, but it wasn't that bad.

Re: Dr Smith -- she did look very Janet like, but maybe it's just the lab coat that does that.

Re: Anubis -- I can't see him coming back now but it is possible. We had this with Apothis before. You just can't keep a bad Goa'uld down.

I would really like to see Jonas back, but that is probably true. And my son asked me why Teal'c has his forehead marking. I explained what it was to him, then I thought that since he's growing hair, and lost his lavae, why doesn't he get that removed too -- I'm sure a plastic surgeon in the USA could do it.

Also, was Jack talking to Kinsey on the phone, or was it some other President? If so, Jack's certainly changed now he is a General.

It was an ok ep :)

That said, we'd soem of it before and i think you could tell the Russian Colonel wasn't going to become part of the SGC furniture if you know what i mean, the Ruskies never seem to hang around for long, you never know...maybe an opening for a Brit eh. ;)

Are we gonna see Hammond at all in season 8 do you know?

So, Anubis is with the living, well sort of, what's he going to do now, become some half ascended alien /half replicator thingy.

On the "4th member" debate, well you never know, they might continue on as a three with Jack tagging along now and again, or there's always the possibility of another outsider filling the role, a Tok'ra possibly but i dobt it.

thanks

Nick,

Wasn't it Dr Brightman? But she did look like a 'Janet replacement' - I don't look like that in a lab coat :D She has the same kind of hair and build. I think that made me not like her.

And i don't think it could be Kinsey - there's no way Jack would change so much just by becoming a General.

It probably was, I didn't catch it, I just saw the name in the spoilers posted in this thread earlier. They must have changed it from the original script to the filmed episode. The reason for that might be interesting -- maybe it is because of the 'Lost in Space' namesake?

It couldn't be Kinsey as he is no longer even Vice President now, has been associated with the discredited rogue former NID agents, and unceremoniously kicked out.
But when I wrote that I forgot completely the final ep of Season 7 and the new president's appearance, sorry :(

I still think that Jack appeared too jovial and subsurvient, but he does have more respect for President Hayes than he ever had for Kinsey.
