Balta and his Spy

This is one of those little twosomes that have a lot of potential in a new series.

On one side we have Balta. Who sets out as a good(ish) guy, with a brilliant mind. But with a very weak spirit, corrupted by the desire for self-preservation.

His turning was nicely managed by the female Cylon (DVO's Sexbot). and no I can't remember her name.

The spy herself is also interesting. Although she has Balta twisted around her little finger, she does seem to have more going than simple corruption.

She has supplied information on Cylon technology, by round-about route.

So I wonder if she could also be turned?

I agree this relationship between Baltar and No.6 is one of the many highlights to this series.

There seems to be an underlying tone with No6, she pities/respects humanity and she demonstrates a deep religeous side as well!!

Whether her manipulation of Baltar is to her own agenda or that of the Cylons or indeed some strange desire to see humanity survive is yet to be seen.

Its all good stuff

An interesting thought that she could be being manipulated by other Cylons. She sometimes appears quite childlike and naivé, then at other times she is manipulative and scheming.

In 'Bastille Day' she says that she thinks of humans as the parents of Cylons. In the mini-series, there was the scene when she murdered the baby. Those two things seem at odds too!

She is definatly not working to the Cylon script. She has a particular interest in life and death I think becuase both are not applicable to her. To me that what the baby is about and also they way she says "are you alive" then kisses the person to check???

Theres a scene in the mini film/series when No6 says goodbye to Baltar outside. He then walks away and she turns round and says

"About time, I wondered when you`d get here"

They have kept this person out of the shot and it intruiges me as to who it is. Was it a known cylon agent or one of the unknown ones and if so is it anyone we now know???

You know what I find most interesting about these two after Bastille Day? The fact that, while he's definitely losing it, she appears to be on the same road - witness her surprising anger at Baltar's attempt to lose the responsibility of the Cylon detector. I think that the No.6 in Baltar's mind (who isn't just his subconscious, I'm sure) is slowly losing it the same way he is. There isn't an episode title coming up along the lines of 'This head ain't big enough for the two of us!', is there?

This opinion does not appear to be unique to Number 6, there was a comment about "It is the way of things that parents die and children go on" which was said by the male Cylon on Capricia. Which would make it more akin to a Cylon belief or religious ethic.
