Hi guys,

Never posted on here before but I was wondering how many autographs you were usually allowed from the guests and what the prices usually are?

Also what do the photo sessions usually cost.

Just wondering as I'll be seeing Amanda, Michael and Teryl a few times this year and was trying to ration out my money.

Especially as I'll in BC and Alberta for 3 weeks so I can see me being broke by the end :rolly2:

Thanks in advance :p

Rough ideas

Okay, here are some rough ideas becasue some things aren't finialized until the last minute [that happened a bit last year].

Autographs are usually limited to two [sometimes you can get three] per actor and one item much be an official item [official to be completely defined later, but we usually mean a photo or Gatecon item you bought at the con]. No home made photo manipulations, etc - please be discrete. So, for a B&W photo figure $7-10 US and a color $10-15 US [believe me, these are rough figures]. So that would me around $6 - $12 an autograph.

Now *sometimes* an actor will bring their own photos and have someone selling them right there at the table and we have no idea in advance what those will cost, but the about figures give you a rough idea.

Photos have run approx $20, per actor [unless you cram everyone into one frame and I have no idea what we're talking there]. Last year photos with Michael ran a bit more [$35, I think, but don't quote me - I'd already been working for several days and was a bit brain dead].

So... totally confused yet?

I know it sounds like a lot, but the photos and autographs are one of the ways we help generate the funding to meet the contracts we have with our actors. And yes, we have to make contracts and pay for their appearences. That's pretty much a fact of life and nothing we can do anything about. And when you get a change to see as many guests as we usually have at Gatecon [I mean, just look at our guest list so far and we're still several months out. :D ], the funding becomes critical.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask and someone here will try and help. Also there's a Yahoo email list for folks going to Gatecon. PM or email me and I'll give you the particulars.

I know Rowan said she was brain dead -- and I believe it - she works hard at Gatecon! --

but - the photos are $12 US per actor - they were $20US for Michael last year ---

And, the price is per actor, not per photo - so, even if you cram 5 actors into a photo, it'll still cost you $12US x 5 = $60US -- that's they way it works - and this is b/c of the contract stuff Rowan mentioned.

And last year - they weren't letting us 'cram' more than one actor in a shot b/c they were trying to get everyone through - but then they got kind of 'stuck' near the end and started 'cramming' to get everyone their photos. It just depends on the time and how things are running. Last year there was a problem with a broken camera, so things weren't as fast and smooth as they had planned - but that's how things go - it wasn't a big problem - I think most of the ppl who wanted photos got photos and most got them with the person / people they wanted -- b/c they adjust the lines and such for that too. If an actor has to leave - they try to get as many ppl through who want that actor as they can, then they sit you back down and run you through the line with the other actors... it's kinda crazy, but it's fun too!

Thank you!

Thank you, H II {Acting as my own personal PDA here. :D }. I got one photo last year - fast - becasue I had to get back to the desk and they did let me cram three folks into it with me.

But it was a nice cram.

Made for a nice picture. ;)

Re: Rough ideas

Hi,

Thanks for the estimates of prices. I'm just trying to guestimate how much money I need for teh trip out to Canada from the UK, living expenses etc so that I can save enough.

I fully appreciate how much it must cost to get such a stupendous guest list and I will of course be buying quite a lot at Gatecon :D

As for photos, just want Mini and Terleen (sp?) :rolly2:

Yes - I must have had the braincell at that point... :D

Hehe -- that was to get *you* out fast -- then they could go back to rushing everyone else through...

When I did mine - it was easier for Jen to just run around and grab actors and for me to stand in one place - b/c I got photos with everyone - they had to change the film twice! :) But yes, yours does sound like a LOVELY photo! ;)

And, heimdall, yes - saving for Gatecon is a chore --- I'm still not 'up to date' on my saving - bad bad me - and I'm only travelling from the East Coast of the US -- ;) Anyway - you have a couple choices --- max out your cc or don't eat... :D

Nah - if you're good with money (ie: not me) - you'll do fine... ;)
