RE: the studio tour -- I was kinda pondering this a few days ago or so -- and instead of doing an auction for like 90% of the 'seats' on the tour -- maybe they could do a 'lucky dip' at the registration table all weekend for some of the seats. The auction, while great for the charity in one respect, limits the people who can go. It will always be those ppl who have that extra cash somewhere or that few extra dollars on the credit card. But, if they were to do a 'lucky dip' type thing, where you pay, say, $5US to dig your hand in a box and pull out a card that's either blank or has 'Studio Tour' on it, then, more ppl who wouldn't ordinarily get to go, could go. Also, I kinda think you might make MORE money for the charity that way. (haven't crunched any numbers on it, but it's possible) Also - how many ppl you know would willingly part with $20US to stick their hand in the box 5 times, but wouldn't be bothered to try on the auction b/c they don't have $250US to spare for a seat? Also - this way would be more 'equitable' to all attendees... b/c even ppl who aren't 'dead set' on going on the set tour, could at least have a chance to go, if they wanted. The way it is now, you have to start saving from the time Gatecon ends and save extra just for the set tour.
Personally? I'd pay $5US for a chance, but I'm not gonna save up $300US to try to win an auction - b/c I just can't - I'm lucky to make it to Gatecon...
