Gatecon Tripass ticket question.

I just came to the board and saw that gatecon superpasses were sold out.

I just wanted to be clear, the Tripasses get you into most of the things except one event and autograph sessions.

So that means no autographs except for those who bought superpasses?

If so I'm going to not be able to go this year. Getting up close to the stars is worth the extra cash, but $160 plus the trip there and back, plus the hotel. I wouldn't have enough money to participate in the auction, and I probably wouldn't be able to afford anything as a souviner other than what I can get off of ebay... not to mention I wouldn't be able to get autographs. So I guess it wouldn't be worth the trip in that case.
--------------------

So I want to make sure- does a tripass mean no autographs for sure

and IF there is a con next year, will you ever accept paypal payments? (Just quicker and more convenient IMHO. though you'd have to pay a surcharge to make up for what percentage Paypal takes out.)

Also if anyone reads this, if you're selling your superpasses because you can no longer go..... ;)

I guess it depends on why you're going. If it's the autograph part then it's my understanding that there have already been 400 or so superpasses sold, which means a lot of people to get in and out of the autograph room. That means that the person in charge of that room will have to chivvy the line along and you might get a couple of seconds to talk to the actors before having to move on.

On the other hand, it's also my impression from others who've been to lots of these events, that the best way to actually meet the guests is to buy a pass for the whole weekend and volunteer to give some of your time to help out. I think that the only stipulation for volunteering is that you have a Gatecon ticket, although I would think that Day Passes don't count. Only Superpasses and Tri-passes, but you could check with the Gatecon website. There are Tri-passes still on sale.

Only you know why you are going and what you can afford. a good list to join for up to date and sensible information is the Yahoo Groups Gategoers. The people on the list are very nice and very helpful. The Listmums even arrange outings and Sekh's Party is also a very good event. It costs to go, but you get to know lots of fellow fans and they also invite Stargate guests to come along to the party. Away and apart from that, it's a nice friendly list to be on, even if you don't get to go to the con.

The only thing I really wanted was a chance to get an autograph from the stars. I bought a replication of a Zat gun that I have on display and I thought it would be cool to have autographs to display with them. (And a lot of autographs on ebay are not legit so I didn't want to go that route.)

It would be cool if I could go to the auction or buy some stuff while I'm there, but with the tickets, plane or train trip and the hotel I wouldn't be able to participate in an auction unless they were selling something for under 100bucks. lol. which I doubt. And I could get a lot of the stuff they'll probably sell from ebay or other dealers if I search hard enough without getting on a train ticket and hotel. but if I could have gotten in line for an autograph, that would have been worth it.

But it says Tripasses do not get you into autograph sessions, so I'm assuming that means, no autographs unless you have the superpass. Which I can understand. 400 passes is A LOT. so I can see why they'd say no autographs for any pass under superpass. but 160 is a lot when the things it lets you into like the auction, I can't really participate in.

I read on the board no gatecon 2005 has been talked about. I really hope there is one. I didn't hear about gatecon till it was basically too late this year, so at least I know what to look out for next year if they decide to have one. lol. I'm just disappointed it took me so long to find gatecon, and then it took so long for me to get the money for the tickets only to miss out on them. oh well. Next year I'll try to get them online (if they sell them through paypal. I don't have a creditcard. only a checking account.)

I'll look into that mailing list though. maybe through that I'll get a heads up for if anything goes on next year.

Yes do join the Gategoers list. I understand from the list that this year's con is not necessarily the last and that there probably will be one next year. So even if you can't go this year, that gives you a whole year to save up. Another hint by the way, is that people often buy the following year's convention ticket at the convention itself (if they're on sale of course). Again you can keep an eye on what the regular con-goers are saying on the lists. but if you want a low enough ticket to get into autographs, buy as soon after this year's con as you can.

cool. I really hope there is a gatecon2005. I'd really like to get an autograph from Amanda, Christopher, Michael, Teryl and if they could get Corin and Alexis Cruz again that would be awesome.

I'm not sure if they could get RDA or Don S. Davis, but if they could get even one or two of the other ones, that would be cool.

I'm just wondering if they'll do another SG-1 theme or if they're going to go into an Atlantis theme. Hopefully maybe if there is a 2005 con they'll combind them and get actors from both.

I'm still bummed I can't go this year since the tix are all sold out :( , but I'm keeping my fingers crossed big time for another con next year. :p

...still trying...

Yes, still trying to get there...

Anyway, Superpasses are sold out, Tripasses are soldout, and only Sunday daypasses are available...

Anyone with a sat. day passes or know anyone selling a sat. day pass, please feel free to email me the contact info and whatnot. As I stated earlier, I'm still trying to get to Gatecon. Don't want to waste a trip to Vancouver and not go to Gatecon... :rolly2:
