Hi,

This is probably totally the wrong place to post this but here goes :D

Since I'm going to Gatecon and I'd like access to a phone I'd like to pick up a "pay as you go" SIM card for Canada (rather than paying a fortune to phone for a taxi using my UK mobile or pay premium rates for phoning from the hotel).

So how do I go about getting a cheap "pay as you go" SIM card?

Plus as I plan to make Canada a semi regular visit it would be useful for the future and any more Gatecons (long may it continue).

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul,

In the shopping mall across from the Hotel there is a place where you can go to get recharge sims.

You might find that your mobile phone is not compatable with the USA/Canada network signal, but I do know that some new phones in UK / Australia have dual signal abilities, so you will need to ask about that.

I know of at least 1 person who found it cheaper to buy a new phone over there with a rechargeable sim, and it actually worked out cheaper than switching his phone over to global roaming.

But the people at the phone shop in Richmond Mall will be able to help you with all of that.

Allan

Thanks

Thanks,

just bought a triband, bluetooth phone so should hope its compatible. Just need to get it unlocked so that I can use any networks SIM in it.

So hopefully it will work

EXCELLENT. So all you should need is a sim :D

Yep should be able to handle that now I know where to go.

After all I was a telecoms software engineer for 13 years and I've worked on 3G mobile stuff :rolly2: :D
