dear all

as some of you might know,

Pink Khaki Webzine

the former SG-1 webzine and later general sci-fi webzine has been sent into well-deserved retirement. it's still there, no worries, it still serves as an archive for all articles, interviews and gizmos which we published in the last two years.

and now we proudly present the bigger, better and thankfully less brighter

25 PERCENT - The Online Entertainment Magazine

it's semi-professional, there are now more than ten people working on it, and instead of static, with a new issue every three months, we have updates whenever something new comes up.

we haven't dropped stargate completely, of course. you can find a short interview with vanessa angel, and one with tony amendola is in the works. we are, however, still looking for somebody who'd like to cover stargate.

however, 25 PERCENT covers everything from sci-fi to fantasy, fandom to music, lifestyle to literature, cinema to theatre.

check it out, we hope you will like it. and spread the word, my friends! :D

MMM gotta say I prefer a narrower page format
- you have to scroll across or reset the frames if you're on a smaller screen

also I'm not happy with the top scrolling across section

your logo doesnt show properly until you scroll to the far right?

I can understand that you want to avoid the traditional left bar toc thingy but frankly I think you ought to consider putting the title logo in the centre make it about 25% larger and shrink the buttons around the links and group them around the title logo?

also maybe a different background ?

I think you need to have a word about the design team
and get them to polish the balance of colors and layout?

*gasp* Pink Khaki has retired?! :(

haha... I like the "see you on the other side" :D

I actually like the colors; Color scheme is okay.
I would have to agree on the logo and the scrolling part though. Other than that, woohoo! :rolly2:

Thanks for the headsup/update...

Hey, Doc!

Good to see you're still around.
:D

wel the color scheme is not beyond redemption but it is too pastelly especially around the buttons - Doc if you're lurking please get a copy of Itten's Elements of Color - no no no dont throw it at me - pass it on to the design team - they just need to sharpen the contrast about ironically 25 % would probably do the trick and I think maybe chisel or drop shadow the color squares around the links would help.

Before anyone protests pastel is "nice"

yes but colors too closely matched tend to GREY OUT

if the counterbalance is too close there's be no harmony of contrast - contrast would increase the impact of the design?

doc ... doc ... ? doc ... ? is she snarling? oops

itten's elements of color - check it out please?

ducks for cover

and drawing and watercolor pads

we tried various layouts, and this was the one we liked best. I know that many consider the logo important, but we don't - nobody misses anything if it's not there. however, we're still trying and testing, and will hopefully find a solution sooner or later (rather, hehehe) which you will like better. :)

as for the size: 94 % of the pk readers had the same resolution or higher, so we "went for space". we hope those with a smaller screen will not wave their pitchforks at us now and hopefully forgive us :).

take care

neith, I would never throw itten's element of color after you - I currently sit on it, otherwise I wouldn't be able to see over the keyboard, as I'm very small.

as mentioned above, we're still fiddlin' around with the layout, and it will hopefully improve. however, the colours will not change, because we like them the way they are. hopefully you will forgive us - we never claimed to be people of exquisite taste. :D

take care

you're not throwing books at me?

good

colors - they just need a little more tweaking ?

its just as they are - they dont have an emphatic effect

they're a bit too quiet?

i'm not saying they should be loud or intense
just a little more contrast ?

also the logo - please think about the middle postion for it

what if someone was visiting who hadnt been there before

how would they feel having to scroll to find the logo?

and if the logo is pinkish perhaps the colors around the surrounding links might be dark pink violet or a middle purple with lettering in a lighter color ?

neith sighing with relief

no one's doing the arrgh you asked a question i'm insulted thing!

Doc I'm taking this to email
I hope you dont mind if I ask a few more questions - I have some ideas and I tihink part of the problem may be the design looking different on other screems having checked it on a different terminal?

okay rowan you can stop frowning at me now

:(
