The impending election of a new Vice President gives activist Tom Zarek an opportunity to make a move for political power.

With 2 episodes left they are tieing up the loose ends now. :(

It is good to see they returned to Zarek but I was rather suprised they reset his character to a rather more darker figure especially when his life was spared by Lee Adama becuase of his belief in Justice and his high regard for Zarek`s beliefs. Suddenly he was re-roled again as an evil terrorist.

We had the sub plot of the hitman who was very loosely linked to Zarek?? This then linked into the sub plot about Helen Tye. Did she provide the info of his location from pillow talk with Sol Tye? Is she the killer (she may be Cylon after all) as she says herself "she has an agenda" probably out with Bill and in with Sol as Commander of the fleet

No6`s plan for Baltar expanded, indeed she too now can make a play for the death of Roslyn putting her man at the top, I wonder where that will lead and how will he find time for his Cylon detector.

I must admit the Cylon detector has been a let down as there has been no plotline of an actual test proving positive (apart from Boomer) Why has Adama not questioned this??

On Cylon occupied Caprica,

The penny started to drop for Helo and Boomer started to confirm what we have said here on this board. The irony for the Cylon humans is they will never be able to fully express their human side especially as they have destroyed humanity.

At the Space port where Helo saw 2 No6`s appear I was hoping to see another Boomer and I was not dissapointed, Helo`s Boomer then killed her very quickly. Everything fell into place for Helo who then bugged out as fast as poss, although I was suprised he did not confront "his" Boomer.

I look forward to how this particular plot will end.

So only 2 shows left, what a shame. I really hope they are asked back for another series.

I thought that it was only Lee Adama who changed his view on Tom Zarak. No one else thought any better of him. Lee had studied him at school and his impressions didn't fit what he had been taught, but I agree that Lee Adama seemed to totally forget his earlier encounter in this episode.

Is this the first time we have had any mention of the Twelve Colonies of Man names, apart from Caprica? In the original series these were: Caprica, Gemoni, Canceria, Piscon, Sagitara, Leo, Libra, Aquaria, Virgon, Aeriana, Taura, Scorpio.

To be fair, the test seems to take many man-hours to achieve a result (as Baltar continues to complain about.) He must have tested many people now, including Helen Tye (they won't know of the Boomer test) and not to have any positive tests would not ring any alarm bells. It would be more satisfying to get negative results, confirming that everyone was safe.

My question would be why they don't force Baltar to train more people to do his test, so being able to complete testing more quickly (didn't he quote the time it would take in years?)

And I like the way Baltar still seems to be a passenger in all of this. He has never asked for anything, but just gets given it all.

I think it is about time Helo woke up to Boomer. She has been far too sycophantic and fawning.

Hmmmmm

I quite enjoyed the episode, but yes, some things didn't fit. Having not seen the one where Helen Tigh is introduced, I don't really know her plot, but I can't for the life of me figure out what's going on with her and Zarek.

I was disappointed to see a return to the Baltar sex-jokes, but I was impressed by his speech in defence of Roslin. As for Lee, I think he's reacting to a loss of faith. Having thought Zarek almost a hero, he's been proved wrong and now hates Zarek for it.

Glad to see Starbuck's leg still giving her trouble - no Trek-esque reset button at the end of the episode each week.

And as for Helo, well, scratch another Rik theory.... I give up on this one. Let's hope we get some expo in the next couple of episodes.

And just as I was getting to like the religious stuff, it stops :dead:

Just a thought,

Actually, I don't think that other episode would help you. The ending left you wondering whether she was a Cylon, or just a crazy 'loose cannon' who drops her knickers for any man, and is a bad influence on Sol Tigh.

But, I read the Sky One website for this episode, and apparently the reason she wanted to ingratiate herself with Tom Zarak, was because when he rises to power, she wants him to get rid of Adama and promote her husband to head of the fleet. Now that does fit what she was doing, but there is no way I could jump to that conclusion just from watching the episode alone.

Hmmmmm.....

Fits, I guess. Makes it more likely she's a Cylon than just a loose-cannon power-*****; if she was the latter, then she wouldn't care where Tigh was, she'd just screw someone higher up.

Although I think Mrs. Tigh might predate human-form cylons - when were they married, do we know, and is it actually possible that she's a cylon at all - after all, it doesn't seem likely that the cylons could just download her whole personality from her head into a cylon or somehow reconstruct said personality in the head of the cylon copy. I reckon that Tigh would have had to have married her within the last 10 years for it to be possible that she's a Cylon.

My apologies if someone else has already made this point.

This episode was a close look at the dirty underside of politics in a democracy overall.
"We don't care who wins as long as it is us!" From Roslyn, all sorts of political manoeuvring from anybody who smells power, plentiful irrelevant points and arguments from bit players who aren't in with a sniff at power, while all ignore any serious points in their more global predicament, like how are we going to live- Just like Today in Parliament.

Balta, pulls a most impressive Tony Blair impression. Sound bite.. Pause.. Sound bite.. pause.. smalmy grin.. sound bite.

Mrs Tigh, I wouldn't like to speculate on. Obviously she is a social climber, prepared to climb on or under anybody that might improve her lot, assuming her husbands rank plus a few stars or stripes. But she is not subtle enough to be a Cylon.

May be this is all part of the Cylon plan?
They are just waiting for them all to wipe themselves out in the forthcoming internal disputes?

If that is the case then Zarek, I suspect, could prove to be a saviour of everything in the end.

At least the activities on Caprica are starting to make a little more sense.
