Thank God it's now been half a decade since the long over due end of DS9. It is the biggest pile of **** i have ever had the misfortune to watch. I'd rather watch a random episode consisting of Neelix and Wesley Krusher taking about their "feelings" to each other and maybe even Jar-Jar Binks thrown in for good measure.

Only Uber- geeks and Gimps enjoyed watching DS-**** and the only good thing about DS-9 is that they stopped showing it.

And why was Enterprise cancelled when its first two seasons were the best sci-fi tv series in recent history (I think B&B would agree with me).

So you liked it then?

In fairness DS9 is not the worst Trek, or even the worst Sci/Fi out there, or perhaps you haven't watched Andromeda?

Sorry Khatab, you don't know what you are talking about. Deep Space Nine was better and richer than Enterprise. The fact that it ran for seven seasons rather than two says it all. Granted, it was a bit slow for the first two seasons, but then it picked up considerably, and with the in depth story aecs and character developement, it became possibly the best of all the Star Trek canon. But thats just my opinion.

I agree with trekkygeek - it produced some of the darkest moments in trek history - my favourite of all the trek incarnations.

Absolutely!

Deep Space Nine tackled real issues such as racism, immigration, war, religion and terrorism in a futuristic setting. This is exactly what Gene Roddenberry started to do back in the sixties when he created characters such as Uhura, Chekov and the guest characters like Bele and Lokai (The black and white people - it was a little obvious, but it still dealt with racism).

DS9 had more realism than any other Star Trek show. The only reason I will understand from people who didn't like the series is that it was too real. A lot of ST fans want some kind of escapism - which DS9 did offer at times, but it certainly was more dark, gritty and controversial than any other show on at the time.

I loved it!!!

DS9 was my favourite! Apart from Dr Bashir (grrrrowwwwl!), the storylines were really engrossing, the Ferengi got to run wild, the people seemed real, and the theme music gave me goosebumps. I once dated a guy just because he had all the episodes on VHS!

OOOh, and I got to watch it becasue my mum fancied Gul Dukat (sp?)!

I think DS9 was probably the best Star Trek series. It had the greatest character development and was the only series with a successful story arc that spanned years. This gave it a sense of depth that you don't see in most shows that just go episode-by-episode. I agree with Ian regarding the issues it tackled. DS9 may not have been flawless (no TV show is), but I think it is severely underrated.

DS9 is my favorite Trek. I haven't seen Enterprise, but I've seen most of the others. I have no patience with the episodic nature of TOS and TNG, I want a story to stretch for more than one or two episodes. And when it comes to sci-fi on TV, the darker it is, the better I like it. That's why my two favorite sci-fi shows ever are Babylon 5 (which did have its lighter moments) and the new Battlestar Galactica.
