Star Joins Atlantis

SCI FI Channel announced that The X-Files' Mitch Pileggi will join the cast of Stargate Atlantis as the show gears up production for the new season.

Pileggi, best known to SF fans for his recurring X-Files role as assistant FBI director Walter Skinner, takes on a recurring role in Atlantis as a hard-nosed colonel who butts heads with Dr. Weir (Torri Higginson) and Maj. Sheppard (Joe Flanigan).

Production on Stargate Atlantis is set to begin in March for a summer premiere on SCI FI.

Beckman already posted in the character threads that Carson Beckett would be made up to a full-time cast member in Season 2, and that Aiden Ford would be getting the chop in favour of a new character - an alien weapons specialist - it seems that this could be that character.
 
That's definitely cool news, Skinner in Space. :lol: Looking forward to see this. He's just awesome, I can't picture him as a Colonel. :D

Hmm, I though Becket was pretty much full time anyway (well as much as the Dr could be) anymore and its going to be a bit Star Trekish.

As for losing Ford.. HUH?? Rainbow playes him well and as a character he has depth. Not over the top very, credible and fits into the teams very well.

It would be a mistake to lose him.

After season 1 do we really need to see another Colonel ? Long term it will not fit in with Shepard and Wier.

As characters go you either have shepard who is a bit foot loose and un-disciplined forced with the responsabilities of a CO or you have the hard nose Colonel. I would say there is no room for both, not day to day.

Season one had a great mix, I hope they dont spoil the potential now and ruin it.

When I see the new guy, I can't shake the feeling of Tyr. Wonder why? :lol:

I have a hard time seeing them getting rid of the Ford Character myself. Could you provide a link to that one?
 
I kinda prefer the new guy to Ford to be honest. Ford was a bit too... energetic for me. *g*

The new guy... I quite like the mumbling and everything. The hair... grows on you. And Sheppard calls him Chewy!!!! How can you not love that?

Does that make Weir Leia?
 
I liked Ford, like Sheppard said he's "like a kid". His attempt at naming everything was funny and i loved his moment in Suspicion when they're taking about driving around in the 'jumper: "Oh, you're just checking out the planet? Oh, nevermind then, that's cool. I mean, I've got better things to do than cruise around the planet in a <i>spaceship</i>." But he didn't really add that much to the team so depending on what the 'Tyr clone' is like, it could be a good thing.

So Chewy and Leia, is Sheppard Han Solo? ;)
