Part 2 of a 2-part story; rumoured to feature a massive army of Daleks invading Earth. (These versions have been redesigned, and have evolved into terrifying, spider-like creatures...)

Warning - Contains spoilers!

The 13th episode is being broadcast on Saturday. We have some snippets about features of the episode - do not read on if you would prefer to enjoy the episode as the programme makers intended.

The ninth Doctor does, indeed, die in this episode but it triggers a regeneration and David Tennant will appear briefly as the tenth Doctor. The new Doctor’s first words are: “Hello. New teeth. Now, where were we?â€

Captain Jack returns in the next series of the show and comes to no serious harm during the episode.

The Doctor kisses Rose but in order to save her life and not for any pleasurable reason. The Doctor and Jack also have to kiss.

The programme does identify the Bad Wolf.

Rose has a critical role to play and has to face up to a terrifying future.

We get to see the Emperor Dalek who is the familiar squid-like creature inside a huge glass paneled Dalek machine. If you would like to see a preview picture - Click here

Re: Warning - Contains spoilers!

I've no idea how the spider rumours came about (probably episode 2), or those of Davros appearing or Adam returning. It just shows you not to believe anything you read here!

Bad Wolf is explained. It is the TARDIS, or at least it is Rose after she looked into the TARDIS' heart. Being able to see all of time Rose left herself clues to lead her here.

I liked the linking together of all 12 episodes in this. 'Father's Day' became critical in changing Rose's mums mind to help Rose. It hadn't seemed that important to the overall mythology before.

I thought that the 'new' Daleks were killed off a little easily, but then they probably have not!

He was left behind though. I can't see why they would go back and get him. Russell T Davis said in an interview before the programme that he was only introduced to have a soldier character who had no problem firing a gun.

David Tennant's introduction was not that good IMHO. "Where was I? Oh Yes Barcelona." Hopefully he will improve.

you know what I liked at the end, the Doctor is regenerating and looks at Rose and says "you were fantastic!......and you know what, so was I!

Too right you were mate !

I've been a Doctor Who fan for 35 years, since I was a little kid and when it all ended I never imagined we'd get Doctor Who back, and certainly not this kind of quality - but thank god we did because this series has been fantastic and I look forward to the Christmas special

The return of Jack in the next series was listed in an official press release but it did not mention in what manner he would return and the loose thread of that 2yr hole in his memory is one I would not want to leave hanging if a writer on the series so could be they pick him up but more likely imho that it'll be more a case of crossing paths at some point.

As to the spider rumours that could have been a twisted tale resulting from the squid like beings (tentacles translated as multiple legs in multiple tellings).

The Adam stuff and all that, well from the show all that Bad Wolf was, up until the last episode, was just a message and there was no way of knowing what or who it meant. All the theories sprang from various snippets on the BBC's fake sites and multiple others sources but as there were multiple ending filmed and indeed multiple fake scripts written by the Dr Who team I'd lay bets it was a deliberate attempt to lay red-herrings, keep us all guessing and build hype. It worked!!!! and added a whole other layer to the experiance for me which increased anticipation, engaged the mind and made the whole thing far more interactive. The revelation did not dissapoint, indeed the fact that no-one came close to guessing the truth made it far more thrilling and fun, totaly drawing me in (and I'm sure many others as well).

Yeh the Daleks were killed of easily but then they have been so invincible, battles won but never the war, perhaps it was time to put them to rest (at least for a while) and allow the show to move on and re-create it's self without us all waiting for the big baddies of old to return. Personaly, with us knowing the Doctor was to die, building to the point where we thought all humanity was going to as well, then the Rose revelation..... I didn't care that they were killed off so easily, it was still for me a fantastic and very emotional end.

As to David's intro, after so much intensity and emotion in that episode I felt that bit of quirky humour was much needed to put a smile not just on Rose's face but also the viewers. The confidential for the show expressed as such, that this time, with the Dr having the chance to say good bye properly, that he tried to prepare Rose for what was to become of him and save her from to much distress so the humour was as I'd have expected from what we've seen of the 9th Doctor and the transition thus worked for me but then nothing will ever work for all :)

Gonna miss Chris, he did what I never thought possible, rapidly becoming my unquestionable favourite incarnation (we all tend to select a Dr from a key stage of our childhood's as favourites and never waver much from it even if we grow to love others). I love Casinova and the portrayal of him by David, he came across as a highly talented actor and the quirkyness of that character would make a good basis for a new Doctor to my mind as long as added depth is injected. We must of course always seperate actors from their roles so looking forward to how the new Doc will be written and how David will portray it.

Off to start dealing with the Dr Who D.T's now, cya all round Christmas time :)

A little bit belated...

I did quite like this episode. It was a good way to end the series, put it that way. And it was the first time this series that I've needed a cushion (to cuddle when it got sad, not to hide behind, but still :p).

It was a very sad episode, and I definately got teared up a couple of times - when Jack was exterminated, when the Doctor's hologram was telling Rose why he was sending her back to earth. But my favourite scene has to be at the end, when the Doctor was explaining to Rose that he would be 'different'.

"You were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And d'you know what? So was I!"

As far as last lines go, those are right up at the top of the list. And Chris Eccleston's delivery during that scene was perfect.

However, I have to admit, I was a little disappointed by the regeneration. Maybe because it wasn't a surprise. Maybe because he didn't even die, as such, he just... turned shiny. I think it would have had a bigger impact if Rose had actually thought he was dead for a few seconds before he regenerated.

I'm undecided about David Tennant. I still think he's too young, and too pretty. And he has strangely pointy teeth. But I guess I shouldn't condemn him until we've seen some more of his acting.

And now, a couple of things that really bugged me about this episode. :D

1 - they abandoned Jack. And with no explanation or anything. Ok, Rose was slightly unconcious at the time, but the Doctor just pops them both in the Tardis and takes off, without a single thought for Jack, on his own in a strange time and place. And the look on Jack's face, when he saw them leaving, was heartbreaking. That is just inexcusable.

2 - the kiss between the Doctor and Rose. Now I'm willing to accept that a kiss was needed to transfer the energy - it's been done before, fair enough. But it was way overdone. The kiss between Jack and the Doctor was cute. But the kiss with Rose... they tried to make it too romantic, and it just didn't work, IMO. First of all, the 'swelling music' in the background. And the dialogue, beforehand?

Rose: My head... it's killing me.
Doctor: I think you need a doctor.

Oh, please. Before that, the scene was incredibly sad. Then, with one cheesy piece of dialogue, the whole mood is ruined. There was just no need.

So, ok, it had a few bad points. But the good stuff far out-weighed the bad stuff.

Chris Eccleston, you were the Doctor, and you will be missed. David Tennant has a lot to live up to.

In response to the first of the two negatives all had been killed and although Rose stated she could bring life there was no way for the Doctor to know if she resurrected anyone and if so whom as she was unconscious and I'm thinking with the strength of relationship built up between this Doctor and companion he may simply have wanted a 1-2-1 for the regeneration with her.

I had read an interview with RTD stating that Jack will appear in season 2 so they could be going back for him or simply that their paths will cross once more, certainly can't see them leaving the memory hole thread hanging.

Second point I can see the point but personaly felt right for me and my wife and kids loved it but I know how much many hate any romantic stuff in Dr Who so fair point and due to the vortex stuff they can argue away any true love elements for those who don't want to believe the Doctor should or is capable of true love whilst allowing those who do to hold on to such moments so kinda made a happy compromise between the two camps. End of the day we all loved it, others hated it, that's life :)

I would say that Bad Wolf is the TARDIS and has a few even deeper conotations. Rose was used even though she had some control over what was happening.

We know the Tardis has a telepathic link with Rose, while things like the ghastly film has suggested that it 'Likes' people and is of a sentimental nature, which rather implies some form of soul. But there are a few other pointers that lead towards the conclusion.
For instance: Coming out of the Tardis the possessed Rose says "I love my Doctor". Then it is followed by the comparison of how they both see all of time and its effects.
In the end the kiss was more about the two souls- Doctor and TARDIS joining thananything else. If the Tardis didn't want to touch the Doctor, it certainly need not have done so, or return to the TARDIS as meekly as it did.

So yes Rose loves the Doctor, but the Tardis loves him more and will do anything in its power to protect him, including maintaining a link with Rose?

All in all- A cracking series.
In general the kids I know liked each episode for itself, while all my rarely disguised desire for real drama and challenge was well fed. Here is to the next series

The Season Finale was great, I totally enjoy it. All the thing about Rose and the explanation of the Bad Wolf was great.

Gonna miss Chris, he did what I never thought possible, rapidly becoming my unquestionable favourite incarnation.

I'm looking forward to see the next season but have to admit that I will miss this doctor. I have to wait and see for the new doctor. But have to admit that seeing him at the end of the Season Finale let me a bit dissapointed. I hope I enjoy his acting as the season progress. I definitely going to miss Chris, he have a special charisma that was imposible not to like. :D

Krystal :p

The episode and the actors were fantastic. ;)

I will miss Eccleston, but at least we still have the distinctly British beauty still.

As for love . . I think it would stink not to have some tension between the two at some points.

But, I do have to admit that a Time Lord that's lived so long might have a little difficulty relating to someone who's been alive for only about 20 years or so.

And yet for the last forty years at least he's travelled with at least one such person almost continuously...

Was a buit of a letdown after the marvellus set up with the 'Bad Wolf' episode. The Doctor was played as too conflicted to effectively destroy the Dalek menace. And I didnt but the Rose subplot at all. Heres hoping the Tennant Dalek finale Doomsday more than makes up for it all, when it airs over here.

Oooh I really enjoyed the final Doctor who episode...but then it had David Tennant and Daleks in, so that was enough to make me happy! The ending is a bit...over dramatic, although as much as I didn't want to, I did find it quite sad...and the very final moments were brilliant, it sets up the scene for what looks like a very promising Christmas special! :D

I know with what happens in it, Doomsday is probably going to be even more of a tear-jerker at the end than TPOTW was. But then I have noticed with the advent of David Tennant's Doctor, they are relying more and more on music that will make everyone go into a sad, depressed mood after watching it.

That said all I care about seeing is how this Doctor handles the Daleks.

Good point.
Hmm . . I think that's more of a witting tool than anything. Dr. Who's companions (based on what I've seen) seem to be a character that is intended for the audience to relate (usually?). Through these characters we get into complex adventures that might be too difficult to understand if it was just a story about two 900 year old time travelers.

Though it is ironic in season 2 that the Doctor meets a kindred spirit in Girl in the Fire place who is very young, but smart.
