SG-1 / Atlantis - which order

I'm presuming S8 of SG-1 and S1 of Atlantis should be watched interlaced: but which one comes first? S8-E1 of SG-1 or S1-E1 of Atlantis?

On the same note - if I watch S1 of Atlantis before S8 of SG-1, are there major spoilers for SG-1?

Well, having watched SG-1 and Atlantis a DVD at a time (in the UK), therefore 3-4 episodes of one, then the other, etc., there is very little cross-over.

But, there are the odd, small spoiler, and one or two things I think I must have missed, which is why I was asking my question.

I think the idea is to interlace them, but I don't know which way round.

meh i watched the first 15minutes and i really dont think i should have
this post may contain spoilers so dont read if you dont wanna find out. but then i only watched the first quarter of the pilot so i dont fully know whats going on

ive only seen up to the end of S7 of SG1 and i think that first episode of atlantis kinda spoils things a bit

at the end of lost city, jack is frozen in that thing still speaking the language of the ancients. in atlantis, hes up and running about and has been promoted?!?!?

in the pilot theyre at the outpost they they found in lost city and are still trying to find atlantis, so i think that may suggest that during later seasons of SG1 they dont succeed in doing this

they were talking about needing the help of the ancients to fight their enemy. so does this suggest that in SG1 they dont actually manage to defeat the goauld? or maybe theyre talking about a new enemy??

i know those things arent particularly big but it was enough to make me wanna stop watching until i have at least seen S8 of SG1

so i wouldnt recommend watching atlantis if youve just gotten up to S7 like me because the new series kinda assumes you know stuff which will probably be shown in S8

anyway, thats my little rant over

Yes, watching Atlantis Season 1 before SG-1 Season 7 will certainly invoke big spoilers, but watching before SG-1 Season 8 only minor ones. It would be best to watch them in tandem, but the only major crossover comes about half way through SG-1 Season 8 and towards the end of Atlantis Season 1, and I would think that it wouldn't really matter which way you watched them. Except that it would spoil the SG-1 'Prometheus Unbound' episode since you would know the something of outcome of that mission.

so best bet would be to watch to the end of S8 before starting atlantis if you dont want anything spoilt?

Ah! But wouldn't you then be spoiling Atlantis?

IMHO Atlantis was consistently better than SG-1 S8, and it would be best to watch them alternately in tandem.

Dave, I agree totally: SG-1 they just seemed to give up and let all the decent writers head off to Atlantis, leaving the trainees... only in the last half dozen of SG-1 did it pick up.

But, going to your last point, the two series were designed to be watched in tandem, alternating, I think - but which episode comes first: SG-1 or Atlantis?

does rob cooper or brad wright not write for SG1 anymore then? because i know they do for atlantis, but itd be a shame if they stopped for SG1

i didnt think S7 was that bad, much better than S6, but then again, I havent seen S8 yet

I watched them in the order Sky One aired them, which I think was episode one and two of season 8 and then started watching Atlantis. Thereafter I saw episode 3 of Season 8 followed by episode 1 of Atlantis and it all made sense to me. Atlantis is a great series, its a shame it has been started on Channel 5 in UK before season 8 has even been listed to start on Channel 4, or have I missed that?

Definitely avoid watching Atlantis until you have started season 8 if possible, for minimum spoilers I think.

No, I don't think C4 are planning to show S8 of SG-1 anytime soon. It's a shame, it would have been much better if the two shows could have been shown simultaneously.

I'm just surprised that Five put Atlantis on at such a reasonable hour. I thought it would go the same way as Angel, Alias, Dead Zone, etc. - 2am on a Tuesday morning. :evil:

i believe the official order goes Sg1 801-802 then Atlantis 101-102 then SG1 803 Atl 103 and so on.
Seems to make sense with Sg1 s9 and atlantis s2 so far also.
