I know that Atlantis claims the first guy-guy kiss in SciFi, but that isn't exactly true. The new Dr. Who series has that honour -- the Doctor kisses both of his companions, only one of which is female.

For those who have not snatched Dr. Who out of the cyber-ether yet -- well, all I will say is that we've come a long way, baby.

Isn't McKay the one going around kissing everyone in one of the new eps?

I know! I think he's like possessed or something, and he goes around kissing all these people!

His obnoxious character is the reason I originally boycotted the show. I still don't watch much of it.

He was so obnoxious. He is a little bit calmer now.

I was really mad when he called Carter a dumb blond. She should of shoved his head into the wall!!!

Yeah, he's still really annoying, but he seems to fit in a bit more in Atlantis, and I didn't think I would, but I actually started to watch the eps, and like them!

Perhaps he fits in Atlantis because there is a woman in charge who puts him in his place on a regular basis! :laugh2: I'm lovin' it! :rolly2:

I hate the character. No redeeming qualities in my book. If I wanted to spend extra time with a complete a**, I could go back to work for an extra hour. :angryfire

Do you think his character, which I think has toned down slightly since his SG-1 debut, is more realistic, as "an a**" as you put it, than some of the more cliched roles elsewhere in the series. They are maintaining the character, reflecting reality in which such people do keep their jobs despite their personalities... (at least they do in our offices... )

Definitely! Way more realistic, and it is far more likel that you'll meet someone like him at work than some of the other stereotypes!

I have always thought it must take an incredible writer working with just as talented actor to create a character you "love to hate," i.e. one that is worth watching, and who does not send you for the remote control. These characters seem to combine arrogance with intelligence. Somehow the character is able to curry favor with the viewers, who grudgingly admire that the character gets what he or she wants, even though they are not particularly likeable.

McKay's character is nowhere near this level of talent.

i think the mckay-beckett guy on guy kiss was hillarious! Well done to the stargate producers!
