I really like Peter and the Starcatchers - prequel to Peter Pan. It's being made into a movie for 2007, but I can't find any info on it. Anyone else a Neverland Adventure fan? Anyone hear anything about the upcoming movie? Anyone read the other two books in the trilogy? (Peter and the Shadow Thieves and Escape from the Carnivale)

See- they list the movie, but give almost no information. Hrumph! If it's cgi and due out next year, I'm betting a good bit of it is already done and they could let us have a little more info.

I couldn't find anything on the Disney website, BookStop. It might still be too early for information. We will have to wait and see... sorry.

Actually, I have seen the book but I haven't read it yet. Right now I'm reading The Book of Three by Alexander Lloyd to my son. I think Peter and The Starcatchers should be next. :)

It would be nice if people who want to read this book borrowed it instead of buying a copy. It was written without the permission of the copyright holder, which happens to be a children's hospital that does very important research. The writers got away with it because the copyright is a little fuzzy in the US (although good until next year in the EU).

I know a lot of people take issue with the length of some of these copyrights, but cheating an organization like the Great Ormond Street Hospital seems a bit much.

I read about it when the book first came out, in a feature article about Dave Barry and his latest book and so on and so forth. They asked him, in passing, whether he had permission from the Barrie estate, and he blithely admitted that he hadn't even tried. Nothing about thinking the copyright had expired here; just that he hadn't bothered to ask. The person who interviewed him didn't pursue the matter, so they didn't seem to think it was a big deal either.

I think that was one of the things that got on my nerves -- the lack of respect for intellectual property. Combined, of course, with the fact that I happened to know who were the heirs to his literary estate and something about the history of that hospital.

Thanks for the link, BookStop. I hadn't heard anything about lawyers and lawsuits. It's frustrating to think the hospital might not have the funds to actually sue the authors. But maybe a little bad publicity might shame them into handing over some of their profits.

If y ou ask me, Disney should have definitely known better even if the authors never thought to ask. I'm sure there is someone on Disney's payroll whose entire job is to make sure they don't infringe on other's copyrights.

You weren't expecting Disney to have morals did you BookStop? I'm afraid that money rules this wicked world. I do however understand where you are coming from unfortunitaly the reality is... if there is money to be made then oh well for copyright laws. :(
