Just last week I finished the series The Kingdom by Cynthia Voigt. Due to the fact that I have so many books to read, it has been a long time coming. I would recommend if you read them, read one after the other. When I read them with months in between I came back somewhat confused. The series is about a fictional land called The Kingdom. Some places refer to the series as fantasy, but I'm not sure. There all great books. The first book is Jackaroo which is a twist on Robin Hood. The second book, my favorite, On Fortune's Wheel is about a girl who leaves the Kingdom to see the outside world with a thief. Most people in the outside world think of the Kingdom as a myth and a place only in folk tales. The third book The Wings of a Falcon, my least favorite, is about two boys escaping the island of all boys and a cruel leader to eventually make it to the Kingdom. The final book Elske, deals with a girl named Elske who escapes the 'Wolfers' talked about in previous books. She travels to many places, but where she ends she never would have known.
I really enjoyed all the books. I liked how most of them had interaction between lower class and nobles and how they came to rely on each other. Maybe even more than that. I would not recommend this for younger readers, maybe 14 and up, unless of course you’re a mature reader. Some of the content borders on questionable, mostly in the books 2-4. Well let me know if you've ever heard of these before, I liked to hear what you think!!!!
