Peter Jackson's new project?

It's a good series (so far, only read three) and would make for interesting theater. Of course, this doesn't mean that it will end up being good or even made since he definitely has many projects on the burner (including The Hobbit) and may take quite some time to become fully realized. However, should it be made, and especially by Jackson, I'll go see it.

I haven't read any of the series yet. With all the new technology I am sure he will do a good job...:)

Actually, I was sure it was mentioned in the news a week or so ago that he would be filming another series but I neglected to post it here, and now can't recall what it was :(

Found it !! I am not sure that I will enjoy it though, as I have seen the original a number of times.

Peter Jackson to Produce `DamBusters' Movie By Tracy Withers Sept. 1 New Zealand film maker Peter Jackson will produce a movie called ``DamBusters,'' based on a Royal Air Force bombing raid on a German dam in World War II, for Universal Pictures and StudioCanal.
Jackson will produce the film, partly based on ``The Dam Busters,'' a book by Paul Brickhill, and a 1955 movie made by Associated British Picture Corp., Universal Pictures said in a statement. Christian Rivers, a New Zealander who has worked with Jackson for 17 years, will direct.
Filming of the $50 million project will start next year, the Dominion Post reported today. Jackson may produce ``Dambusters'' at his Wellington studio alongside ``Halo,'' a Universal Pictures movie based on Microsoft Corp.'s best-selling video game, the newspaper said.

Christian Rivers?
Well he certainly spent plenty of time closeted away with PJ on the Lord of the Rings trilogy and storyboarded it all (which I suppose is directing, but on paper).
Interesting to see how/if he can deal with the challenges of being a director.
As the budget doesn't seem that high I wonder if he'll focus more on the 'interior' of the aircraft as it makes it's way to the target (kinda like Memphis Belle did).

That don't mean nothin'. Too much reliance on computer technology ain't a good thing; It takes the humanity out of a film.

Not too sure how he would make the dragons appear life like then...:)

I like the books so far and they'd definitely make great movies. Dragons fighting Napeleonic battles would be a visual treat.

I'd like to see what Jackson comes up with. However he does seem to be working on several things including a movie based on Alice Sebold's Lovely Bones so I don't know how long it is going to be. I've been waiting to hear more about Lovely Bones.

For the record, Sky Captain and the World of Tommorrow had a budget of ~$40 million

If it doesn't work out, he can always go back to his day job, guarding one of the beacons of Gondor.

I mean CGI should be used sparingly. And yes I love Peter Jackson's work. But I don't like movies where the CGI takes the forefront and drowns everything else (I.e. the actors) out. Jackson uses quite a bit of CGI but he dosen't let it take over the film. Remember Lucas's Prequel trilogy? That's an example of too much CGI. Everything felt artificial.

Is Peter Jackson becoming the Lucas or Spielberg?
He's done pretty well for himself so far.

The dragon film sounds really interesting.

Considering what his first ever movie was, I would say that he has done extremely well.

For those of you that don't know, his first ever movie was "Bad Taste" and also the first ever movie to gross me out when watching it.
