The SG-1 team continues their quest for the Holy Grail, an Ancient device capable of killing the ascended Ori. They learn that an old nemesis is also looking for the device.

This episode was fun. Aside from the typical 'oh look, SG-1 walks in and solves whatever puzzle no one else has been able to solve' - it was at least innovative.

And I like Cliff Simon. ;)

They'd solved some of the puzzles, just not all of them. What happened to Baal's Jaffa though, didn't they go on without him?

Adria's amulet of protection came into it again. I was pleased about that, because I felt a fool when I forgot that was why she was protected last time. It seems I'm in good company, because none of SG-1 remembered this time either. So why didn't they take it off her and excute her? Not ethical, but this woman could destroy the whole Galaxy. She has played them every stage of the quest. There is a choice and I know which I would make.

I don't think I ever saw the first ep with Adria and her amulet - so I didn't know anything about it.

I was just pleasantly surprised that the episode didn't suck. *g*

I enjoyed this episode, it actually had me thinking at one point. I thought that the old man may be an Ancient for a while, but I turned out to be wrong. However, I did guess the whole wall of fire thing as soon as I saw it, that was too obvious.

It seems that the tests were set up by Morgan LeFay after she'd been through a Dungeons & Dragons manual. It just seemed a bit D&D to me, especially with the (bit cheesy) dragon at the end. *Roll a d20 to see if you defeat the monster*
It'll be interesting to see what happens with the 'dragon' though. It can be defeated if you know its name? Bob?, Jim?, Steve?.... or you could try Morgan, or Myrddin? just a thought.
Also, surely the key to getting the red blob is by reading the Ancient text on the pillar behind it.

If Adria's amulet is ineffective in the cave then surely they could kill her? They could let the dragon attack her, and while she's focussing on that, push her over the edge. This would not be technically ethical, but it would at least give the Ori some cause for concern, if not convince them that it is too much trouble to go up against the defenders of this galaxy.

Great episode but it would have been much better if Adria wasn't in it. I don't know what it is but she is completely useless as an enemy. I'll admit that the dynamic duo wrote a good episode but they did absolutely bugger all with Ba'al. Cliff Simon is one of the best actors on the show and they did nothing with him, it would have been much better to have Ba'al as the main enemy in this episode instead of Adria.
