Why can't the Wraith feed on some other type of live stock. Beyond any type of spirituality, aren't we pretty much the same as any other animal?
 
Hmmm... I think it's because of the part of their genes that comes from Humans. I don't think they can absorb life from other animals because of it (incompatibility?). On the other hand, they can eat like us even as grown ups but can seem to be able to live off it...
 
So maybe they could survive on chimps and other genetically similar mammals.
