Just about everyone here has espoused some crackpot theory at one time or another so in their fine tradition and as an attempt to partially fill the vacuum of interest created by the ever so long wait for ADWD I shall attempt to entertain you all. So, without further ado here is my crackpot theory.

Ashara Dayne is not actually dead but instead travelled to Asshai and became the shadow-binder known as Quaith. She has returned to guide Dany because she feels the rebellion caused she and Ned to be forever held apart because he was forced to marry Catelyn. It will also come to pass that the dwarf seer visited by Beric will foresee the rise of Bran as a powerful warg and rush to the Vale to tell Sansa who by that time will become the queen of the Vale and the North which she will conquer through her husband and the power of the Vale. Sansa will ally with Bran and Jon and guard their power while waiting for Dany to land at which point they will ally with her to destroy House Lannister. Then Bran will receive a vision telling him Jon's true parentage. Arya will follow swiftly on Dany's heels and return to her wolf Nymeria and she will become the Queen of Wolves and destroy the remaining ravaging bands of soldiers and dispossessed peasants wandering the Riverlands. That's about it so far. Oh yes, and Moonboy will be revealed to have gotten Cersei pregnant.

Good news tsw, thats no worse than some of the theories that Ive put out there. Heck definitely better than some a few others have put out there....I wont mention any names but you know who your are.

Except for Moonboy...we all know thats Howland Reed in disguise, or Benjen Stark, or Coldhands (who is actually Benjen disguised as Moonboy disguised as Coldhands....) and he would have succeeded too if it wasnt for you nosy kids and that pesky dog.....

All good, except isn't it rather cruel for Arya to have her wolves kill off all the disposessed peasants? Cos with winter coming, they might need all the help they can get. And the peasants weren't exactly a threat to anyone, except when they joined that religious Brotherhood. I'd like to hear your theory about what they can do about the new religious fanatics, no ones broached that one yet.

The peasants are unproductive mouths to feed and there are no autumn harvests. They're better off dead. The religious fanatics? Turn them against the Others. The Others are enemies of the Seven, right? At least that's what Dany and Jon will tell them...

Yeah, the others reamin out there and will still be needing to tkae care of.

Also the way i read it it might Howland Reed is the one who visited the Island of Faces and was the one being mocked by the squires. Thus getting to know Ned and Lyanna

Well, as a Stark bannerman Howland would know Lyanna and Ned quite well regardless of whether that was him or not at the Harrenhal tourney. Of course as the only other survivor of the Tower of Joy fight he would know Ned quite well I would think. Kiwi I think you missed the obvious connection by looking for the more interesting one. If I had a dime for every time Ive done that....

I did not miss that connection, i know that Howland Reed was one of Neds most trusted bannerman during the Rebellion. I am thinking their is a reason why one so low was so high in his list, it is not that the Reeds (at least not that i thinks so) would be able to put many men on the field.

Thatswhy i am guessing that they knew each other from earlier days

Not trying to be rude or clever Kiwi...hope yer dander aint up, just dont understand your definition or low or high station. Nor do I see the oddity of Howland being a trusted member of Neds retinue, they just fought a war together so any number of reasons could be available....including the fact that he's a blunt, honest, intelligent forthcoming fellow like Jojen who has an odd way of thinking outside the box as it were

Ya know the question has never come up....why did Ned pick those he did to accompany him to the ToJ(Tower of Joy)? Assuming Ned was at the head of a large army during the Sacking of KL....which was right before the ToJ incident right? Why wouldnt he take 20 or 100 men to the Tower if he knew the Kingsguard was there with his sister.

The only 3 I recall being named were Howland, Ned and Jorys father....who else was present? But why take those 6 people and not a few more....

Why not more, i would not know, even so it is clear that those 6 are all men close to eddard.

He is higher then most men Howland Reed, but he is seen as the lowest of the low among nobility.(--> all the snide comments about the bogs and so on, the fact that he probably does not command many men, he would be just one among many bannerman normally, (eddard got the might of the whole north behind him remember, the karstarks, the boltons, the umbers, white harbour, mormonts and so on. Skagos and the and the other small isles, bogs are looked down upon ,not seen as true lords.

now it may be that it is just in eddard charachter, still it is remarkable that Howland Reed is not only respected but so high up his inner circle, when unlike with the Blackfish for example in robbs army, their is no real family connection.

Youre supposing Howlands presence at the ToJ is indicative of his meeting with Ned at the Harrenhal tourney. Im not gonna argue thats not a possibility, because it is....but theres so many other reasons...not the least of which is Neds character and Howlands mettle at the various battles they fought together...the way he speaks of Reed implies more than the brief meeting at Harrenhal, which makes it just as likely that the two had plenty of subsequent interaction. If thats the case, then Harrenhal is not a definite meeting point for the two.....

A very long winded way of saying, I dont know why Im typing about this...carry on.

I know, ihell it is certain that they have met and battled together in the war, all i was implying that the connection rings deeper then just that.(hence harrenhall tournament)
