Torchwood: Owen Harper (Burn Gorman)

According to the BBC, he is “the raw but charming medic”. He is also
described as "arrogant" and "brilliant."

According to SFX Magazine, "He's very acerbic, very sarcastic, very, very
intelligent. He's brilliant at what he does and doesn't really give a s***
about anybody else. He's also very sexy. He's one of those people that
appears incredibly aloof but actually you just get turned on by how good
they are at what they do. Writers love writing for him."

Owen could be the character to watch. He is Gwen's opposite number when it comes to compassion and empathy. A little bit dangerous methinks, potential traitor maybe.

Do you think that 'rat jam' could be a precursor to 'ferret-jam'?

Splat!

I like Owen better after that ep too. But geez, he came pretty close to breaking that Hippocratic oath a few times.

What Hippocratic oath? Is he a medical doctor? I really must read their website more carefully.

He doesn't look like the kind of guy who takes any oath seriously.

He really did look like he was going to have to change his knickers after the incident under the bridge...:D

I thought he was the medic. In the first ep he corrects Jack when he introduces him as just 'Owen Harper' by saying 'Dr Owen Harper'. I suppose he could be a PhD.

Yep, he was bricking it.

This is what the Blowfish said in his team analysis in Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang:
The Doctor with his hands full of blood...

When Martha is introduced (she also being a Doctor of Medicine) will Owen being taking on a different team role (Sexual Therapist?) or is he heading for a nasty end? (I do hope so!)

I agree with Mary.

I don't find him appealing on any level. There were a couple of times I began to like him, then he'd say or do something that made me realize he was still the same old Owen.

As for whether or not he's a fully qualified doctor, surely he's a forensic pathologist? You have to have a medical degree for that.

Spoilers: highlight to see

I was so right! And I was just beginning to like him!

I wouldn't worry about it.

I predict a ressurrection within the next 2 episodes which are named..

Dead Man Walking
A Day in the Death

Pure Peculation not based on any real evidence.

-- Seeing as they like to rip off Buffy/Angel in Torchwood.

Owen will come back to life but will be evil and they will call him Owenus and Tosh will profess her love for him, Jack will kiss him and he will revert to goodness just in time for Martha to leave.
