Tanya Huff

I'm currently on Blood Lines. So far, my favorite was the first one, Blood Price. Victory Nelson was a homicide cop who quit the force because she developed a degenerative retinal disease that caused her to lose her night vision and all peripheral vision. She becomes a PI and gets involved with a vampire and all sorts of otherwordly drama. Its an ok series but not spectacular.

Would you say the series improves or at least keeps a good level of interest as they progress?

I wouldn't say improves. The second book kept a good level of interest but I'm having a very hard time getting into the third one. I've started reading it and put it down twice so far.

I've just finished reading Blood Price, it was quite good and I like Henry :D

I noticed there is a new standalone book to be released sometime this year - Smoke and Mirrors. I can't find any other info about it so far. Has anyone else got any info on this new book?

Ive just finished reading Blood Trail and thought it was better than the first book in this series :D I dont have anymore of the Vicky Nelson series on my shelves, so that's a few more books on my To Buy List :)

I've just finished reading Blood Pact, and found it wasnt as good as the other books I'd read so far in this series :(

Some interesting scenes, but I felt that a vital relationship interaction as been lost with the ending of this book.

We've discussed this series on the Book Forum, rune! I'll say here that I liked the direction taken by Huff in the fourth book. I thought that it was very entertaining and sent the relationship into a completely different direction. Please read the fifth and final book - maybe you'll find that you enjoy the twist in the series once you've completed it.

Is that the book club forum? Just that I can't find the discussion

These are some books I was a bit dissapointed by. I went and bought them all from Smiths not long ago and by the time I got to Blood Pact I was so annyoed I didn't finish reading it.

Thats a shame you didnt enjoy the Vicki Nelson series. I really like her writing style and found her fantasy books just as entertaining. She has a fantasy series with a lot of humour, and she's very good at humour :D

I've finally got my hands on Smoke and Shadows, which is a off shoot story from the Vicki Nelson series :) It's in my to read buy that recently grow, so will get there eventually.

Anyone else read this book?

I was hoping that Henry would take a bigger part in Smoke and Shadow, but that wasnt to be. Unfortunately Tony isnt my favourite character from the original series and didnt engage me as much :(

I've read Blood Price and Blood Trail, and enjoyed reading them both.

There's also a TV series, Blood Ties, that's based on the books.

Yep, I've been enjoying it so far. I think the actress they chose to play Vicki is great.

I've read and enjoyed all the Blood books--but I like the "spinoff" Smoke series even more. So far, that series includes three novels: Smoke and Shadows, Smoke and Mirrors, and Smoke and Ashes. As Rune mentioned, these books feature Henry's friend Tony. He's an engaging character in the Smoke series, and his job at a TV show about vampires allows for some funny scenes (and Buffy references) that make me smile.

Had to dig up this thread, but I've just started watching the Blood Ties series on television, and I'm pretty impressed. I think I might look out for the books the next time I go shopping.
