If you see a stranger...
by Rick Yancey - A friend saw me reading a YA book yesterday and recommended this one to me for today. It was alright. I can see how kids would probably like it, and it is the authors first novel so I expected the flow to be a little simplistic.
Alfred Kropp's uncle is hired to steal Excalibur (modern day setting), and Alfred has to help him or be put back into foster care. Turns out the guy who hired them is bad. Not really surprising. Anyway, one ting leads to another and Alfred has to try save the world. The way he 'saves' the world is'nt very exciting, nor does it really make all that much sense, but still, I don't want to say the book is bad. Some books just aren't as enjoyable to adults as they are to kids, and the simple dialog and pacing will probably make it a fun read for kid 9-12.
Funny enough, it was an adult who recommended it to me. Just goes to show you can't really judge another persons tastes.
