I really like Tyrion - the character of someone who gets by on his wits. Even more so because he does so without being arrogantly offensive, as the character could easily have been. And good to see the grudges being slowly holed up.

And - if I dare admit it openly - I do like the Lannisters as characters. Even their name is very good. :)

Probably because everything they do is underwritten with a sense of purpose, no matter the brutality of that. Jaime and Cersei are characters with their own charisma, even if they shock us.

The one I have no liking for is Gregor Clegane - he is simply brutality in human form. It will be interesting to see how things pan out with Sandor.

I love Tyrion! He is my favorite. The Lannisters are definitely interesting.;) Jamie gets his own POV in ASoS(the third book) and Cersei gets hers in AFFC, which hasn't come out yet.:(

My other favorites are Jon, Daenerys, and Arya. I'd have to agree with you about Gregor. Sandor, on the other hand, seems quite interesting. I don't care for Sansa, she seems to be quite the spoiled brat.

Here is a link to a site that talks about the series. It makes for quite an interesting read. http://b15.ezboard.com/basoiaf

Yeah, I agree. And Hodor, the big, kind, stupid guy who carries Bran around.
Hodor?

Tyrion is cool, and I was surprised to discover how much I liked Jamie, considering how we were initially introdced to him. 'The things I do for love.' that is creepy.
I can't help but think that Jon Snow and Danys are the cliche fantasy characters of the series. I supose it's a sign of Martin's skill that I find them believable despite their inoriginality.
Sansa iritates me... but I find her chapters some of the most intersting to read... so much happens in them.

Tyrion, Sandor Clegane, Jon Snow and Jaime, definitely Jaime...:D Hated him at the start, then I got to 'know him' a bit and changed my opinion...

Hi aimee02, and welcome to the chronicles network. :)

I actually like Sansa - she provides a very good ulterior perspective of the vents. And she's a very good representation of a medieaval lady, so far at least. :)

Just in case anyone hasn't finished reading this yet...*****SPOILERS*****

I don't care for Sansa at all. She's spoiled, she lied about the events on the Trident, and she ratted out her father to Cersei. Having said that, I will be interested to see how she matures in the books coming after ASOS.

I didn't like Jaime until I read ASOS, I really enhoyed his POV. GRRM has a way of surprising his readers, so I can't wait to see what happens next.:D

i like the direwolves, and the mentions of the others are intriguing, wonder at their perspective.

The direwolves are an interesting touch... if they weren't written so well they could be a cliche, but MArtin has avoided that so far.

I can't help but think that Sansa is going to change quite alot. I mean now that she is under the care of Littlefinger (my obsesive friend would say 'now she is his Padawan learner') he's going to train her up into some psycoticly manipulative chick... maybe even a real rival to Cersi. Now that would be interesting. I knida like the idea of one of the Starks becoming evil.

Well, it's hardly a coincidence that of all the Stark children (******* or otherwise), Sansa lost her direwolf. She has all the makings of being one to hate later on.

As for other characters - oh god I love Jamie. I've always liked the Antihero, and Jamie is so perfect and awful. I also like Tyrion, and I find something pitiful and wonderful about Cersei too.

I also like Oberon, for all 20-odd pages that he existed! ******* Gregor. I hate him so much. And I hope the Freys get their comuppance.

Caitlyn was impressive for her fortitude and her willingness to do terrible things to save her family. It'll be interesting to see what she'll be like following the events of the third book . . .

I also like Danys. Her character has evolved so much, and she's just a little bit scary now.

Has to be Littlefinger. Not so much at the start of the story, but definatley toward the end where you realise he's the one who's been pulling mosta the strings. Gotta luv the guy who's holding all the cards like that :D

Hodor?
OF COURSE HODOR. (my fav)

i like jon too as well as tyrion.

honorable mention: jaime (very dynamic character)
cersei (where would the book be without cersei... very dull)
joffrey (jesus what a moron but he too put twists in)

It´s been a long time since i have read the books...
Jon, oh yeah I love Jon :)
Catelyn. It´s very interesting what has become of her and I´m still more interested what will become of her.
Danaerys.I´m sure that she will return to the seven Kingdoms.
To be honest..I like almost every character in these books :p

Tyrion's the best, but Jaime's cool too. As many other people have already said, he originally iritated me, but then started to grow on me after getting his own POV.
I also like Arya. I think I like her because she can really piss Sansa off. Sorry to all Sansa lovers...

Hey Fitz, welcome to our forum.:)

I like your choices.;) Have you heard any of the theories about some of the characters? There is another board I visit, and some of the people there have some wild thoughts on them.

Not a Sansa lover myself, but I am interested in how she will grow as a character.

You should introduce yourself properly, you're sure to get a warm welcome.:D

Yeh we came up with a wild theory on Jon on another board. Though the more we developed this theory the more I believe in it. Which is why I won't say anything about it here just yet as I would consider it a possible spoiler.

Well, if you like you could just start another thread about it...just put "spoiler" in the subject.

I would like to hear what the theories are that you guys have come up with...and what is the other board that you talk about it on? Just curious if it is the same one I visit.;)

I love theories!! I think starting a thread about it would be a great idea!!
And thanks for the warm welcome :)
And I would also like to apologise for my bad grammar, should it offend anyone...:D
