Hellblazer title sought

I was recently telling a friend about Carlos Ruiz Zafon's book Shadow Of The Wind and he told me that it is similar to a Hellblazer comic he read a while ago.

In the comic Constantine is trying to help a friend who's being troubled by characters from realm of forgotten books. All these characters are from 'real' books that have now been forgotten and if i'm not mistaken they are waiting for their copyright to expire so they can be brought to life again.

I'd appreciate any help on this please. I'd really like to find this Hellblazer issue. My colleague also told me that all the lost characters are quite real and belong to actual books so it's really quite curious.
