Meyrink - The Golem

This one's on my shelf, and I'm thinking of reading it in the near future. I'm not sure how close to fantasy it is - I'm just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on it, as I'm not sure I've seen it mentioned on this board.

I read it about 3-4 years ago now. It was different and in some ways thought provoking. I don't think I have read anything that similar to it, but I got through it quite quickly and seem to remember the last few chapters flew by - a good sign!

It's been quite a long time since I've read The Golem but, yes, I'd highly recommend it. It is a fantasy (though not of the swords-and-sorcery or cloak-and-sword variety), though more allied to the supernatural horror realm (in the older sense of the term). Very good, with some haunting images that tend to stay with you.
