Stargate SG-1/Atlantis

Anyone been watching the new series of SG-1 and the brand new Stargate Atlantis series on Sky One? They started about 2 weeks ago and so far have been very cool to watch. I did think that Atlantis looked a bit amateur when watching the advert for it but when I watched the first episode I changed my mind almost instantly. I can't wait for next Tuesday...

I never got into the Stargate series. I enjoyed the movie quite a bit but the tv show just never drew me enough to plan to watch it.

I love them, don't know if its just a soft spot for mcguyver, or that they are really good. But as I seem to be enjoying the new series of Atlantis, maybe its the show after all.
One point in its favour, i'm usualy not a fan of cg, but the city rising from the ocean, was breathtaking, the silver of the city reflecting the blue of the ocean. dream stuff

Ive been watching both I didnt watch much of the last series of Stargate I kind of lost interest but I will watch if I ever get the chance again.

I have to say the first 2 episodes of Atlantis have impressed me though I have a friend who likes to point out holes in the plots etc.

hehe I'm not ashamed to admit I'm totally obsessed with Staragte! I'm loving season nine with Mitchell and Vala, and Landry has grown on me. So sad it's the last eps of the seasons next week *weep* Atlantis season 2 has been good too, I like Ronan.

Daniel has got to be my fave character, he's just so....Daniel.

So, who else is in love with the show? I'd LOVE to talk about it....

I think the makers of Stargate Atlantis have a psychic link into my brain - it's most infuriating!

The concept of the wraith is very much like the aliens in the novel I've been writing (and I began that years ago).
They had a character called Orin in one of the episdodes. I happened to be writing a chapter about a character with the same name at the same time.

This week they introduced a new ship - "The Orion". The flagship of the fleet in my novel is called the Orion!

Hmm...that IS really weird. Have you changed the names of your character/ship or are you going to let them stand?

I'll probably leave it as it is. Orin was only a one off in an episode so it would be odd if anyone linked it to my novel if it ever gets published. The same goes for the ship too - I'm sure there are plenty of ships named "Orion" if I did a bit of googling.

I have been watching them both.

I still prefare SG1 with O'neill in but they are doing an ok job without him, just not as funny.

I have only just started to watch Atlantis so I dont really have any of the old series to compare it to.

Does anyone think that Atlantis will go on for at least another 3 or 4 seasons and the 10th season of SG-1 will be the last?
