I recently remembered reading this book years ago, but I can't find the title and have no clue about the author. All I remember was a critics quote proclaiming them something like the second coming of H.G. Wells (or some other famous sci-fi writer, it's been a long time ^^
The story went (as I remember it):
A boy finds a crusty, metallic creature in some water in a hill cave. Later, a naked feral boy runs down the hill and is taken in by the boy's family. He grows rapidly, is educated, the two boys go to private school, the feral boy marries the other boys sister and fathers a child, continues to age rapidly, and the book ends with multiple human/alien children about to be taken by a big, windy light, but the feral boy's daughter is held back by the boy who found him, causing her to be left behind.
I don't know if I'll ever find this again, but any help would be wonderful!
