Shiny! Let's be bad guys.
Well, its something to think about anyway. The books were all great in different ways. I enjoyed all of them:
The Forging Of The Sword: Because it introduces the main characters, often in a memorable way. The prophecy, and some other comments that I had to keep going back to while reading the other books, the awesome new magic. And of course, the amazing fight where Calvyn runs all the way across a battlefield with a magical shield to face Demarr. I could almost see and hear the swords ringing out.
Trail Of The Huntress: I still can't believe how much bigger Mark's books are on the inside. A hunt spanning half a continent; an entire invading army crossing kingdom; an army and a council of powerful sorcerers being fooled by their supposed pawn. Great plot twists, hints, and real characters making wise desicions, mistakes, and heroic acts. As always, the fights feel just right.
First Sword: I found it so hard to remember there was anything going on besides Bek's challenge. The threat from Selkor increases exponentially while Calvyn rocks the foundations of the academy. When will Calvyn see Jenna? I'm glad it wasn't just a Gladiator story, although Bek's fights are my favorite parts, there was so much more going on that it didn't even approach monotony. I couldn't physically put the book down during the 8 page swordfight!
The Chosen One: Ingenious confrontations, kept me guessing for ages! Femke makes a totally new side to the story here. So much being wrapped up, with so many more possibilities for a future and a past to be written. I always had that little voice in the back of my head telling me that it knew what was going to happen, but it didn't feel like informing me yet. Very satisfying reading these people finally getting some rewards for their sacrifices, and then... life goes on. We want more!
My favorite out of them all was First sword, maybe it appealed to my love of duelling and such things.
what did you guys think about each one? what was your favorite?
