Order of Drenai Novels

Hello,

I don't know if this has been discussed before (because I'm new) but has anybody worked out the chronological order of the Drenai novels? I've read them all (accept for the most recent one released) but I read them with large intervals in between so I can't quite remember.

Waylander
Waylander 2
Hero in the shadows
The First Chronicles of Druss the Legend
The Legend of Deathwalker
White Wolf
Legend
The King Beyond the Gate
Quest for Lost Heroes
Winter Warriors
The Swords of Night and Day

Although if you want to throw them in :
Knights of Dark Renown
Morningstar
then the Drenai novels. (The Gabala and also Morningstar both have references in them to the Drenai, White Wolf mentions Nuada.)

I don't think the above order is right. When I read Winter Warriors I remember thinking that it was set a long time before any of the others. Also, I'm sure there were references to it in Hero in the Shadows, for instance the ruined city in HitS was where WW was set.

There are several small series in Drenai so as long as you read Druss,Waylander,Skillgannon books in right order its allright.

I read realese order wise.

Have read Legend,KBTG so far. Next is Waylander,QFLS and so on.

no, i think winter warriors was the last one in the world. well before the sword one, at least. but as that's about sole reborn i tend not to think of it as the same as the others.

Winters Warriors was the last of the Drenai books.
If you follow this link you'll find a pretty good timeline for the world but beware if you haven't read all the Drenai books there are spoilers!!

Legends of the Drenai

The swords Of Night and Day was not classed as a drenai book on this site, I suspect cos it was well in the future and set in a different part of the world.

That order is correct Erborg. Had to go scan the books a bit last night to get a feel for order.
Waylander's buddy Angel is the ancestor for Druss (angel or Old-hard-to-kill)
So waylanders three books is the start.
Then the three druss books with White wolf in the middle, where he is oldish, but obviously before Legend.
King beyond the Gate takes of about 100 years after legend. and then Quest and winter warriours. SONAD is the last as it is thousand years later.

I believe that is the order they were published not the chronological order of the series. I think the chronological order is the order listed by Erborg.

I've read and enjoyed only one of Gemmell's books (Dark Moon) and found that it wasn't considered his "best" work so I plan on jumping into the Denai series very soon.

While you can read these books in chronological order, order of release date, by the mini series within etc... To be honest, it doesn't really matter, each book is so well written that each can be considered a stand alone book. While there are obviously connections between each book, you don't need to know what that connection is, or know any background to beable to enjoy the story.
I read Legend of Deathwalker first, and then read the rest of the Drenai series in a random order, depending on what the book store had in stock. And it made it, if anything, more enjoyable to pick up on the subtle connections between the books.
