Looking for a little help, I have been acting as an agent for some new authors recently (im fairly new to the game and dont have eperience of all genre's)

Do vampire novels always have a fairly vivd erotic chapter here and there? is it fairly standard and is it what you would want to read in a vampire book?

vampirism has always been linked to erotisism, it is seen as a fairly sensual act to impale a throat and suck the bllod through. i think ppl do expect to read about it in novels of this nature, i certainly would expect to find it within a book, but of course, i wouldn't want the whole book to have this feel to it, thats not what i would want to read but certain aspects to it, definately!

Well it might be nice to have a vampire book without that sort of scene. Authors should be able to write what they like. I'm sure i've read books about vampires before where they hardly mentioned the underwired nightdress clad virgins sleeping with their windows open.

so a scene where the vampire has to suck the blood of a victim to..errr..hoist the flag might not be out of the realm of a vampire novel, it is one of only 2 scenes in the book so it does not take over the story but the 2 scenecs are very very vividly written

there are plenty of vampire books that have no erotisism in it, it depends what an author wants you to read about!....i think there are many different authors that can give all sides to a vampire story!

The last book of vampires that I have read was a refreshingly innocent diversion from the subjects norm. The book My Swordhand is Singing, by Marcus Sedgwick, is hardly graphic while still holding onto the suspence I was hoping for. Tho it's probably the only "childrens" horror book that I have read in an age it was well written and I think it would make a good comparison to other young adult novels in the genre.

As far as what I think about eroticism in a childrens book.. it's mildly ok if kept to a mild manner. Though, I don't care much for the genre classifications of books and feel that it is the parents true duty to find out what is good for their children to read.

I have just read a vampire book without need of eroticism, which was quite good. My Swordhand is Singing by Marcus Sedgwick. It is a more innocent tale in the vampirism genre, though it doesn't have the characteristic suave, sexy vampire figure, and is published through a childrens book's publishing agency.

I have to agree with my better half tho and say that I would usually expect some eroticism to follow in a vampire novel. Implied or explicit I wouldnt' be suprised if it were there. Though, it's far from the most important element in the story.
