Hi all, been trying to remember the names of 3 books I read whilst at school. The first involved duels being fought in virtual reality. There were two main characters, a scientist, and a telepath called Hector I think. The antagonist was using telepathy to create copies of himself in the Virtual Reality arenas. One duel was thought between Hector and the antagonist on a small asteroid. Another involved a physics lab I think. The second was a set of short stories set on a school on some sort of space station. The station rotated to simulate gravity, and the students had competitions to see if they could jump from one side to the other without getting stuck in the middle. Been looking for ages with no luck.

I'm sorry neither of these ring any bells for me. However, I lean more toward fantasy instead of SF so hopefully someone else here who leans to SF will know which books you are looking for.

Welcome to the Chronicles!

I haven't heard of the books either, I'm afraid, but I'd also like to extend my greetings to you! Welcome to Chron, and hopefully I'll bump into you around the corridors! :)

I'm sorry I can't help you out~no idea.I too am looking for a book. The main character is a young woman(on Mars)& they're terrafarming(terraforming)/miningShe works with her father, whom she takes a bath with innocently. She also survives(in a cave/under rock/mountain/underground),hiding from a computer that sends(a radio transmission?)to control her mind. They have machines that make clothing, shelter from natural elements. They also go to a big meeting of the settlers where she becomes romantically involved with a young man.Maybe it's a domed city?If anyone can help me...please post.Thanx.

The first is Ben Bova's Dueling Machine

Well, I'm sorry to say that I don't recognize the 2nd book for you. But I do have an alternate forum where you can ask. Abebooks has a "lost books" regular forum, and lots of people, collectors, booksellers, and fans help people get the titles to the books they've "lost" like you have!
